Students who are 16 years old or older are invited to check out the waters with HMCS MALAHAT's unique "Sailor for a Day" program, March 23rd, 2016. Naval Reserve-Part Time, is excited to promote this Spring Break opportunity for selected students to attend a unique experience!
This program is specifically designed with secondary level students in mind and with the intention of promoting awareness for those who may be interested in a part-time career with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) or those who simply want to know more about the RCN. There will be a limit of 14 participants to ensure a great experience.
This day will provide the following unique opportunities:
· To experience the exhilarating operation of a Ridged Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) on the
waters off Victoria.
· To learn about the rich history of the Royal Canadian Navy and Navy Reserve.
· Learn the practical skill sets in sea survival and life raft training in a pool setting.
Safety of the participants is paramount, constant supervision and oversight will be maintained at all times during the day.
Floater coats and inflatable lifejackets will be provided for the RHIB operation and life guards will be in attendance for the life raft pool training.
