There are no gay characters in Uglies or A Great and Terrible Beauty.

I don't know about Uglies, but *spoiler*
Felicity/ Pippa are lesbian, although you don't find out until The Sweet Far Thing. Some people say this was hinted at in the earlier books... personally, I didn't see it.

Did I miss E.L. Konigsburg's The Mysterious Edge of the Heroic World, or was it just not on the list?

I like to believe Cinna is gay.

Alright, Hunger Games, Uglies, and The Outsiders are all deleted. I'm fairly sure Eona has at least one LGBT character, since it appears on other lists for LGBT books, but I haven't read it, so I may be wrong. Anyone want anything else deleted, just respond to this comment, and I'll take care of it.

And I'm not sure if this book is on the list or not but I'm curious is the book 'By The Time You Read This I'll be Dead' by Julie Anne Peters LGBT? I know most of her other books are but I don't know about this one.
What books on this list have teens questioning their sexuality (i.e.being unsure if their gay or bi)

I think Kissing Kate does but I'm not entirely sure since I haven't read it.

Adaptation and Empress of the World both feature that.

I don't consider How I Paid for College a YA book at all. But it is one of my favorites, so I voted for it.

I agree.
I agree.
Ok, this list could use some cleanup.

No prob! A lot of the books mentioned had teenage characters, but they were published for the adult market. Like Oranges, for example, or Dream Boy. It's always kind of tricky to tell, but a good clue is to check who the publisher is (YA imprints are different from adult ones) and also to check where the book is shelved in libraries and bookstores. Still not foolproof, especially with all these self-pubbed titles, but a good rule of thumb.
Yeah, most of the books teens read in English class are adult books. Teachers don't assign YA books very often, since the point is usually to study adult literature. We read Dorian Gray and The Color Purple, among others.
I'm grateful that Hollywood High: Achieve The Honorable is in the top 100 on this list. Thank you to everyone who voted for my novel!
Ok, did some cleanup on this list.

Betrayal series
Hadrian's Lover
The Forever War

There's a ton more, but that's all I had time for at the moment. If anyone else sees something that doesn't belong, please make a note here in the comment section so it can be deleted.
Do these have any LGBT themes or characters? I don't think so, but not sure, so if someone could confirm or deny, that would be helpful....

The Maze Runner by James Dashner
The Selection series by Kiera Cass
The City of Ember (both regular and graphic novel)

the book thief definitely does not have any lgbtq in it at all sadly. I don't know about the other three since I haven't read them. Yet.

I totally understand what you are saying -and think it's really sweet that the glbt elements of the book has reached you and so many readers- but I think the reason some people don't feel The Mortal Instruments fits is because it's not a main character's struggle, nor is it related the ultimate plot line. Books like that might better fit lists like:
-Books with Queer Secondary Characters
-YA fantasy/sf novels with major LGBTQ Characters
etc. Pretty sure there is more out there like this? Hopefully!
It's one of those things where I'd personally list it here if the themes had a 50% or more of the stage. ...But that's just me! XP I like to think of who will be using this list and what their expectations will be. (that being said I'm happy with any book that even has a background gay couple, but some want more)

I agree with Netta - The Book Thief has no LGBT+ characters. The Selection series doesn't either (At least so far - books 1 - 3). Hope this helps! :)

Ugh, can someone PLEASE take Marked off the list? I know Damian's gay, but his shallow characterization and stereotyping makes my blood boil, especially if it's on a list with David Leviathan and Ellen Hopkins :(
