MEETING AT LUNCH TODAY
Peer Tutors

For all students wanting to join the Peer Tutors this year: there will be a sign-up meeting TODAY at the start of lunch in computer lab 225.  Areas of high demand are Math, Science, English, Socials and Languages. You do not need experience to join!!  Please see Ms. Fischback or Ms. Giese if you are unable to attend this meeting but would like to join.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Altered Schedule Today – Meet the Teacher Night

Today's class schedule is changed to have an early dismissal at 2:28.  Please invite your parents to come to Meet the Teacher tonight from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.  Make sure you let your parents know your class schedule, teacher names and classrooms prior to their visit.

Orange Shirt Day – Sept 30
Tomorrow, Claremont joins in to recognize Orange Shirt Day.  This is a nationally commemorated day to remember the survivors of Indian Residential Schools while affirming that all children are valued in our community. Wearing orange helps us all to share in this important message.

Trades Exploration Program
There are still a few seats left for the Claremont Trades Exploration Program.  This program is worth 12 grade 12 credits and can lead to apprenticeship and paid trades training at Camosun!  If you are interested, please see Mr. Arsenault THIS WEEK!

Cops For Cancer
Our Block 2 Cops for Cancer fundraising campaign is now on!  Whichever block 2 class raises the most $$  by next Thursday will receive as a prize for the class..... delicious root beer ice cream floats!   Please bring your donations to your block 2 class.

ALSO...  If you are willing to donate your gorgeous hair for Cops for Cancer, please come to the Lounge next week at lunch where we will be shaving heads and waxing legs!  See Mr. Plant if you want to shave your head or donate 12 inches of hair.  Arrangements need to be made to ensure we have enough supplies for the event.

Last Chance: NYC Spring Break 2017 Trip
There will be a meeting this FRIDAY at lunch for students and also at 5:30pm in the theatre to discuss the NYC trip. Friday's lunch meeting is for students to get info about the trip, but the Friday 5:30pm meeting is for parents to learn more about the trip.  See Mr. Plant for more details.

Swim Club Meeting

There is an important Swim Club meeting on FRIDAY at lunch in the small gym.  Bring your phones!

Sr Boys Volleyball
Congratulations to the Sr. Boys Volleyball Team who went 5-1 Wednesday night at Royal Bay.  The Spartans defeated Lambrick Park (25-22, 25-15), Vic High (25-20, 25-7) and Royal Bay (25-18, 20-25). The Spartans will be competing at UBC in a 40 Team Invitational tournament this Friday/Saturday.

CAREER CENTRE
Vancouver Film School

Mark your calendar if you are considering a career in the Entertainment Arts industry!   Vancouver Film School  is hosting a FREE information session on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 6-9 pm at the Victoria Event Centre!  More details in the Career Centre.

Work Experience
Two days left!  Work Experience registration deadline is September 30th!  Any student wishing to get work experience credits for this year please see Mr. Arsenault in the room #131 Career Centre BEFORE this Friday, Sept. 30th!

There is a very important grad meeting next WEDNESDAY at lunch in room 303 - voting will be done so please don't miss it if you want your vote to count.  See you then!

Grad Portraits
Grads:  It’s time to book your Grad Portrait photo shoot.  Lifetouch is bringing a portable studio to Claremont  starting next week on October 6th. You need to book your appointment now by going onto the Lifetouch website:  www.lifetouch.ca/victoria.  Photo brochures are available in the office. Don’t put this off, because the appointments book up quickly!
