GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Battle of Vimy Ridge Celebration

This SATURDAY, there will be a 100-year celebration of the historic victory of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, held at Fort Rodd Hill National Park.  6:00-8:30 pm.  This is a free event, and will include stories by historians, military re-enactments, music by the 5th Field Regiment, and a colour party. A great opportunity to honour the sacrifice and victory of this Canadian battle in France during WWI. For more information:  parkscanada.gc.ca/fortroddhill

A group of 10 Claremont students are travelling to France with Mr. Gardner and will be participating in the 100th year celebration on location at Vimy Ridge. What an amazing opportunity.

Book Drive
There is a book drive at Claremont from now until June 15th.  The collection of books is being coordinated by the Victoria City Police Youth Council/Youth for Change and Inclusion. All books will help build a library for a downtown outreach program to support people struggling with homelessness.  Books will ideally be suitable for ages 18-30 and be in decent condition.  They can be dropped off  at the school office.  They are also looking for donations of a few book shelves for the library.  Questions can be directed to Nathan at: ycilibrarian@gmail.com

Scrum Fest

We will have our concession tent up and running with burgers, chips, drinks, etc. The cafeteria will have very limited service during the event.
PARKING – No students can be parked in the lower staff parking lot during Scrum Fest.

On FRIDAY, we hope that all classes attend the main event match starting at 2 p.m. on the field inside our Track.  Students and staff can sit in the bleachers, on the track, or view from the bank, looking down on the game.  The bell schedule will be adjusted so that all classes end at 1:45 so that we can all show our school spirit and watch some great rugby. Wear red and any school colours you have in your wardrobe!!

Rugby players, please remember to communicate with your teachers regarding your games and volunteer shifts. Also, don't forget to record your volunteer shifts on the sign-up sheet by the PE Office.

The class schedule is altered for FRIDAY April 7th so that Claremont students and staff can watch the Spartans play in the main event match at 2:00 pm on the field inside our track:
