GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Morning Coffee - IGS 12 Fundraiser

The IGS 12 class is brewing up coffee at the “Global Cafe” in room 264 each morning from 7:30-9:00.  Delicious Level Ground espresso drinks and drip coffees are available, including flavour shots!  Espresso/Lattes $2.50 / Drip $1.50. Cash only please. Come by for a morning treat and help support the IGS trip to Haida Gwaii at the same time!

Thursday – Altered Bell Schedule
School will end one hour early TOMORROW (Thursday) to prepare for the evening parent-teacher conferences.  The revised bell schedule will be:
Block 1  9:00 – 10:07
Block 2  10:13 – 11:22
Lunch  11:22 – 12:08
Block 3  12:08 – 1:15
Block 4  1:21 – 2:28

Report Cards & Next Year's Courses
Report cards and verifications of course selections for next year were handed out in home room on Tuesday.  If you did not pick yours up, they are in the office. If you are requesting changes to the course selections, the deadline is FRIDAY May 5th to submit course change request forms. Course Change Request Forms are in the Career Centre.

June Provincial Exam Rewrites
Any students who want to rewrite a Provincial Exam (English 12, Science 10, English 10, Math 10, SS11) during this June's Exam Week must register with the office ASAP.  Please note that this is the LAST chance to write/rewrite the old Grade 10/Grade 11 Provincial Exams.

London: Spring Break 2018!
For those interested in a trip to London during next year's Spring Break: there will be a meeting on FRIDAY at lunch in the theatre. See Mr. Plant for more details.  Parents are welcome to email for more information: cplant@sd63.bc.ca

Are you 18? You Can VOTE
Claremont is leading the province's first high school voting drive.  There's over a hundred students in this school who are eligible to vote on May 9th. So stand up for yourself and make sure your voice gets heard. We'll help you get your voting i.d. organized and we'll bus you to the polling site. Stellys and Parklands are jumping on board with this too, so let's get out there, Claremont, and vote!!  Contact Emily Lowan or come to the office for more information.

Musical Theatre Presents “Cinderella”
Claremont's Musical Theatre program presents Rogers and Hammerstein's “Cinderella”.  Tickets are now on sale through Mrs. Marshall in the accounting office; call 250-658-6672.  7pm shows run May 10-13 and May 17-20. Additional 2pm matinees on May 13 & May 20.  $15 Adults / $12.50 for Students/Seniors / $10 for Children 12 and under.  Open seating. Plan early; this show is sure to sell out!!

Book Drive
Thank you for the great donations so far! The book drive continues from now until June 15th and is coordinated by the Victoria City Police Youth Council/Youth for Change and Inclusion. All books will help build a library for a downtown outreach program to support people struggling with homelessness.  Books will ideally be suitable for ages 18-30.  They can be dropped off  at the school office.   Questions can be directed to Nathan at: ycilibrarian@gmail.com

ATHLETICS
Gr. 9 Boys Badminton

Congratulations to our grade 9 boy's that competed in the Badminton City Championships on Monday.  They won the "team" championship by getting the most points for their placings. In singles, Nick Caul and Anderson Hsieh had some great games.  It was an all Claremont final in boy's doubles where Jordan Yue and Jalen Lam took on Gordie Bishop and Woo Park to finish first and second in the city.

Ultimate Frisbee
The next Ultimate Frisbee practice is next WEDNESDAY, May 10th from 3-4:30pm on the back field.  Match play dates are quickly approaching so it is imperative that if f you plan on playing on one of the Ultimate teams you need to attend this practice.  This is for all students (grades 9-12, male or female).

CAREER CENTRE
Camp Ignite for Young Women

Camp Ignite Mentorship Program, with the Saanich Fire Department, is open to girls in grades 11 & 12 – this is a 4-day camp that introduces girls to the world of firefighting.  More information and applications are available from the Career Centre.

GRAD 2017
Parent/Guardian Volunteers needed at Dry Grad

Many hands are needed to make Dry Grad 2017 a fun and memorable night for our Grads!  There are many different jobs to sign up for; Decorating, Security, Casino, Clothing Collection, Clothing Transfer, Coat Check, Supervision, Carnival Game Set-up (muscles!), Carnival Game Assistants, Prize Table, and lots for Clean Up.  Sign up online by going to Claremont's website, click on Parents, then All Night Dry Grad, then Volunteers, then Volunteer Sign Up.  It's lots of fun! Feel free to sign up for more than 1 job if the times don't overlap and encourage a friend to sign up with you!
