GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Clothing Drive

A group of PEP 9 students are holding a clothing drive this week.  All clothing will be donated to Salvation Army, to help support the many programs they provide in the community.  There is a clothing collection box in the front entrance of the school today until Friday.  All types of clothing are welcome, but there is a seasonal need for warm weather clothing.  Thank you for your support.

Science & Math Help
For anyone needing extra Science or Math assistance, tutorial help is now available TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS after school, and WEDNESDAYS before school  (starting at 8am) in Room 134.   

Studio 63 Visit to Claremont
Free hair styling is being offered by our school district's very own Studio 63 Hairdressing Program TODAY at lunch in the student lounge.   Students and instructors will be set up to smooth, curl or even braid your hair in style for FREE!!!  Please stop by to support and find out more about Studio 63!

Morning Coffee - IGS 12 Fundraiser
The IGS 12 class is brewing up coffee at the “Global Cafe” in room 264 each morning from 7:30-9:00.  Delicious Level Ground espresso drinks and drip coffee are available, including flavour shots!  Espresso/Lattes $2.50 / Drip $1.50. Cash only please.

Book Drive
Thank you for the great donations so far! The book drive continues from now until June 15th and is coordinated by the Victoria City Police Youth Council/Youth for Change and Inclusion. All books will help build a library for a downtown outreach program to support people struggling with homelessness.  Books will ideally be suitable for ages 18-30.  They can be dropped off  at the school office.   Questions can be directed to Nathan at: ycilibrarian@gmail.com

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Beach Bash DANCE - This Thursday

Hey Claremont, Student Government is hosting a dance THIS THURSDAY in the student lounge with a professional dj from 7:00-9:30pm and we want YOU to come and dance the night away with your friends!  Tickets are on sale every day at lunch at the theatre box office.  Today is the last day for the early bird price of $5. Starting tomorrow, tickets will be $7.

Summer child care (5 weeks) needed for a Central Saanich family for 2 boys aged 8 and 11,  Monday-Friday, 9-4.  $11.00/hour.  July 17-August 4, and August 21- Sept 1.   Please visit the Career Centre for contact info.
Howard Johnson Hotel and Suites (Elk Lake Drive) is hiring for full-time summer Room Attendant positions!  Training will be provided. $14.00/hour. The Old Spaghetti Factory at 703 Douglas Street in downtown Victoria is looking for kitchen and dish washing help!   Flexible hours and lots of shifts available!  Please apply in person with your resume.
Lochmar Farm on West Saanich Road looking for help!  Two students needed for outside work doing weeding and landscape maintenance. Work days are flexible, but would need 15-20 hours a week from each student. Work could continue on during the summer and potentially expand work hours. $13 per hour.  Please visit the Career Centre for contact info.

Volunteer Opportunity
The Rotary Club of Sidney is looking for volunteers to help run various games at the Saanichton Fall Fair:  August 31 - Sept. 4.  Help with set up, running and take down of games such as Pin Ball, Fun Ball, Cork Gun and more!  Get more information from the Career Centre!

Scholarships

Attention Grade 12's!  There are still lots of scholarships posted on the school website which have not yet closed. We have already had at least one scholarship close with no applicants. Please consider taking a look at the scholarship website ASAP, and submit an application for anything you feel qualified for. Money is going unclaimed!!!!!

Grad Ceremony
Grads, have you ordered your tickets from UVic yet?  They are booking up quickly.

All Night Dry Grad
Reminder that the Dry Grad tickets ($75) need to be purchased online by going to Eventbrite.ca and searching for Claremont Dry Grad 2017.  We have an amazing all-night event planned for our Grads!  Information about the event can be found on the school website by clicking 'Parents' and then 'All Night Dry Grad'.  Details were in your Grad Package as well.  If you have any questions, please email claremontdrygrad@gmail.com

Parent/Guardian Volunteers needed at Dry Grad
A job we are particularly short on is "Decorating" between 10am and 1pm.  This is a good one for males and/or females as there are tasks suited to both or either genders!  Please help by signing up on our online volunteer website.  Go to the school website, click on “Parents”, then “All Night Dry Grad”, then “Volunteer”, then “Volunteer Sign-up”.  Thank you!
