GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Help for Science, Math & English
For anyone needing extra study assistance, tutorial help is now available for Science, Math and English.
Science/Math: TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS after school, and WEDNESDAYS before school (starting at 8am) in Room 134.
English: MONDAYS and WEDNESDAYS after school in room 325. This includes students looking for extra help prepping for the EN12 Provincial exam.
Claremont Reads
Congratulations to Edeline Ren, who is our May contest winner! Please come to the Learning Commons to claim your prize. One more contest to go! Enter June's contest. The winner will be announced on the last day of classes.
Chess
The Claremont Open Chess Tournament starts TODAY at lunch in room 327. We will crown the Claremont Champion, and medals will be awarded for the the top 3 players.
Spring Music Cafe
The Spring Music Cafe is this THURSDAY June 8th, 5-8 pm in the student lounge area. Come chill outside and enjoy a selection of Claremont musical talents. There will be a BBQ too!! $5 burgers and $2 sweets.
Trades Exploration Program
Reminder to ALL students - If you would like to learn more about a career in the TRADES, you should consider signing up for next year's TEX Program, run in partnership with Camosun College! Get a taste of Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical and Welding. Learn about earning a wage while working towards skilled trades certification. See Mr. Arsenault in the Career Centre to register for TEX 2017-2018.
Morning Coffee - IGS 12 Fundraiser
The IGS 12 class is brewing up coffee at the “Global Cafe” in room 264 each morning from 7:30-9:00. Delicious Level Ground espresso drinks and drip coffee are available, including flavour shots! Espresso/Lattes $2.50 / Drip $1.50. Cash only please.
Book Drive
Thank you for the great donations so far! The book drive continues from now until June 15th and is coordinated by the Victoria City Police Youth Council/Youth for Change and Inclusion. All books will help build a library for a downtown outreach program to support people struggling with homelessness. Books will ideally be suitable for ages 18-30. They can be dropped off at the school office. Questions can be directed to Nathan at: ycilibrarian@gmail.com

ATHLETICS
Track & Field
Big congratulations to all the Claremont Track & Field athletes that competed in the BC High School Championships. Our team won three Provincial titles and had a host of excellent performances. The Junior Boys 4x400 meter relay team of Michael Awor, Blake Furtado, Michael Huang, and Conor Loughnane smashed their personal best on route to victory. Special mention to Rebecca Dutchak who, with some amazing jumping, won the Provincial title in both the Junior Girls triple jump and long jump.
CSI Rowing
Last week, CSI Rowers competed in St Catherine's at the Canadian Secondary Schools Regatta. In all, Claremont had 8 of their 14 entries in finals, and finished with 2/6th, 2/5th, 1/4th, 1/Silver and 2/Gold! It was a great week to be a Spartan.

Photos for grad Slide Show
Grads, your last chance to submit photos for the grad slide show will be TOMORROW (Tuesday). After that, all of the scanned photos will be moved on to the final production steps of the slide show.
All Night Dry Grad
The deadline has been extended!! You can still purchase Dry Grad tickets ($75) online by going to Eventbrite.ca and searching for Claremont Dry Grad 2017. We have an amazing all-night event planned for our Grads! Information about the event can be found on the school website by clicking 'Parents' and then 'All Night Dry Grad'.
