Orange Shirt Day – Friday Sept 29
Claremont recognizes Orange Shirt Day this FRIDAY September 29th. This is a nationally commemorated day to remember the survivors of Indian Residential Schools while affirming that all children are valued in our community. Let's show our support for reconciliation and human rights. Wearing orange helps us all to share in this important message.
Five For The Fight – Tour de Rock Fundraiser
Our Five for the Fight campaign in running from now until Oct. 6th. Bring in your $5 donation to Block 1 or make a donation at the front office. Fund-raising will end on Spartan Day (Oct. 6). Let's reach our school goal of $5000 for the Tour de Rock, who raise money for Camp Good Times for children fighting cancer.
Garbage Clean-up
Reminder to all students, especially students who park in the parking lot and on Claremont Road, that we need to see better effort in picking up garbage and keeping our grounds clean. The wind blows garbage into our neighbours' yards and around the school perimeter. Please be responsible with your garbage and be considerate of the school and neighbouring properties.
Global Cafe
The Global Cafe is running every morning until 9:00 in the IGS room 264. $2/coffee, includes milk/sugar. This is a fund-raiser for the IGS program.
STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Election – Student Gov't President
This morning, we will hold our annual Student Government President elections in the theatre. An announcement will be made at the end of today to declare which one of our 5 candidates is elected.

Careers in the Army Reserve
The Canadian Army Reserve is hosting an Open House this SATURDAY, Sept. 30th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ashton Armoury on Vanalman Avenue. Lunch is provided. Come find out what the Army Reserve has to offer in employment, training and grants for further education. See Mr. Arsenault in the Career Centre for more info.
Canadian Universities Event – CUE
Grade 12 students interested in attending the 2017 CUE event THURSDAY Oct. 5th, at Parkland Secondary can sign up on a first come, first served basis in the Career Centre. Be sure to also pick up the parent information letter and field trip permission form package from Mrs. Rhodes. Bus space is limited and only students that return their signed permission form on time will be permitted to go to the CUE.

Peninsula Youth Health Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Health Clinic, is located at the Ocean Pier Medical Clinic, (#207-2537 Beacon Avenue in Sidney) every THURSDAY 6-8pm. This clinic offers completely free and confidential service in the areas of physical, sexual, and mental health for youth. Walk-ins are welcome. This Youth Clinic offers a judgement-free zone for all youth and is an LGBTQ safe space. For more information, call or text 250-216-8389.
