GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS     
Free Hockey Tickets – Victoria Royals

We have a large number of FREE tickets to watch the Victoria Royals play against the Prince George Cougers on Dec 27 or Dec 28 at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.  To use the free tickets, students must be 14 years or younger; for every two free students, there must be a paying adult.  Tickets are available in the Claremont office – 4 per student until they are gone!!

Post-Secondary: The Inside Scoop
Grads of 2017 will be visiting Claremont TODAY  from 3:00–4:00 pm in the Learning Commons to share their first-term experiences in Post-Secondary.  Grade 12 and grade 11 students are encouraged to attend and hear their stories, advice, and words of wisdom.

Dropping a Semester 1 Class?
The last day for students to drop a semester 1 course is FRIDAY December 22nd.  Forms are available in the Career Centre.  After Dec. 22, students will not be allowed to drop a Semester 1 class.

Holiday Week

TODAY – Snowflake-making contest at lunch in the lounge.  Snowflakes will be hung in the school for the rest of the week for all to enjoy!
THURSDAY Dec 21 – “The Grinch” movie (animated version) in the theatre at lunch.
FRIDAY Dec 22 – Ugly Sweater and Santa Hat Day!! HO HO HO!!!

Volunteer and Job Opportunities

There are several job and volunteer opportunities available over the holiday break.  Help out with the
BC Aviation Museum Kids Fest or New Year's Tea at the Mary Winspear Centre, or make a little extra cash helping Sidney residents with inside and outside work!.  Check out the postings in the Career Centre.

GRAD 2018
Grad Portrait Retakes

If you missed getting your grad portraits taken, or if you need retake grad photos taken, Lifetouch is returning to Claremont with their portable photo studio for two days only:  January 22 & 23.  You can book your appointment online now by going to www.lifetouch.ca/victoria.

Grad Transition
Grads of 2018 -  Get your Grad Transition done while you can still arrange for your own transition interview with a staff member of your choice.   Grad Transition forms are available from the Career Centre or from the Claremont Careers web-site. Remember, GT is a graduation requirement.

Dry Grad Fundraisers
Thrifty Smile Cards are available in the office for families (all grades) who would like to support Claremont's Dry Grad 2018.
Return It Bottle Depot - Dropping off bottles? Why not donate to the Claremont Dry Grad 2018 account? How? At the beginning of the transaction, please state that funds are to be donated to "Claremont Grad 2018."
Families of all grades are welcome to participate. This is a year long fundraiser.

Peninsula Youth Health Clinic – New Hours

Important: Hours have changed - The Peninsula Youth Health Clinic is now open every Thursday from 5-7pm. Walk in's are welcome, but if you are interested in booking an appointment or would like more info, call the clinic at 250-656-4114.  Location: at the Ocean Pier Medical Clinic, (#207-2537 Beacon Avenue in Sidney)   This clinic offers completely free and confidential service in the areas of physical, sexual, and mental health for youth.  This Youth Clinic offers a judgement-free zone for all youth and is an LGBTQ safe space.
