GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Food Drive April 9-12

Chalk up the Chariot!!!  Claremont is having a food drive this week until THURSDAY April 12.  Please bring in donations of non-perishable food, pet food, CASH, or new personal items (soap, shampoo, toothpaste,  diapers, etc) to Block 1 classes and fill up the chariot in the student lounge. 

Spartan Day
Spartan Day is THURSDAY April 12. Wear RED and check out Scrum Fest, the BBQ, and more!

Scrum Fest
This THURSDAY, FRIDAY and SATURDAY, Claremont is hosting our 10th annual Scrum Fest rugby festival. This year we have 28 teams from around the province, Alberta and even Australia! Our school will be playing host to roughly 1000 guests. There will be opportunities to come cheer on your Spartan teams. Look for the game schedules posted around the school. The cafeteria will be closed so please feel free to buy your lunch from the field-side concession.  This is a wonderful opportunity to show off what a great school we have!  Please remember to be good hosts to our guests, including keeping the grounds clean!

The class schedule is altered for THURSDAY April 12th so that Claremont students and staff can show our school spirit, support the opening ceremonies and watch some great Spartans rugby.

Support for the Humboldt Broncos
You may have heard that April 12th is also Jersey Day across Canada in support of the Humboldt Broncos. Staff and students are welcome to choose wearing either a Jersey or Red on Thursday.  We will be holding a moment of silence at the Scrum Fest opening ceremony.

Student Success
Congratulation to Nicolas Fedrigo, who was awarded first place overall in this weekend's Vancouver Island Regional Science Fair. This amazing result earns Nicolas a trip to the National Science Fair in Ottawa (his third trip to the Nationals) and his project has already won Nicolas over $5000 in scholarships and prize money. Well done Nicolas!

3 Rs
April is RESPONSIBILITY month, and staff will be looking for students who exemplify the characteristics of this Core Value for nomination for April's RESPONSIBILITY lunch.  Good luck!

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Talent Show – Rescheduled

The Spring Talent Show has been rescheduled to take place NEXT WEEK from Monday-Friday at lunch time.  Come to the theatre to watch some great talent! The sign-up sheet is posted outside the theatre, in the student lounge and in the horseshoe. If you put your name on the list, please make sure you have contacted Steven Hao so that he can coordinate the performances; his cell phone # is on the sign-up sheet.  Want VIP seats? Bring a non-perishable food can for the food drive and get your choice of seating in the theatre.

Claremont Western Night
Come and watch the Claremont swimmers compete with the best in the west on FRIDAY, April 13 @ 6:00 pm at the Saanich Commonwealth Pool. Wear your Claremont gear or show your Claremont student card and get in free. There will be draw prizes for Claremont students throughout the night; just fill out your ballot at the door. Bonus: if you wear a cowboy hat, you get 2 ballots!!!

GRAD 2018
Dry Grad Fundraiser – 50/50 Raffle

The Parent After Grad Committee is having a 50/50 Raffle.  Tickets are $5 each. Deadline for sales is May 3rd. Brenda Chan, PAC Chair, will draw the winning ticket on May 8th at the Dry Grad Committee Meeting. If grads or parents would like to sell tickets, they are distributed in books of 10 and can be picked up from Lisa Wergeland. Please contact her at ohmysoul@shaw.ca  
We have a gaming licence to sell $18,000 worth of tickets. Students 13 & older may sell and purchase tickets. Potential winnings are based solely on sales; one prize, half of the ticket sales.  Good luck!

After Grad Planning 2018
The After Grad Planning Committee invites all parent/guardians of the 2018 Grad class to follow the Claremont Dry Grad Facebook page to keep informed on the planning of the All Night Grad at UVic, Thursday June 28th.

COMMUNITY NEWS
Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.

Youth Clinic
The main Victoria Youth Clinic is open to all youth and is located at  818 Douglas Street on the 3rd floor. It is open Monday to Thursday 11-5 and Friday 11-4.
