Lost

A gold-coloured Moto C+ Smart Phone was lost in the school yesterday.  If you have found it, please help out your fellow student and return it to the office.

Year-Long Drama – Upcoming Play
The Year-Long Drama production of THE DINING ROOM is running from May 16-19 and 23-26 nightly at 7:30pm in the Ridge Playhouse.  This play features 58 characters and 17 scenes, all taking place in one dining room. Some scenes are funny, some poignant. It is a study on the various purposes that dining rooms have had in our lives, but seem to be having less of, as society seems to get busier and busier.  Tickets are $7.50 at the door. The play is approximately 2 hours long, and includes an intermission.  For more info: cplant@sd63.bc.ca

May is Relationships Month
Staff, keep your eyes peeled this month for students who are building and maintaining healthy relationships in the Claremont community, and nominate them for our Relationships Lunch. Students, have a look at the "3 Rs" posters to get an idea of what staff will be looking for.

Spring Music Cafe
Spring Music Cafe is coming up May 23th. If you are interested in performing, please contact Mrs. English by May 18th.

Pianist Needed
One of the musical groups in the Music Cafe is looking for a piano player to accompany their song.  Please see Mrs. English if you would like to be part of this group.

Track & Field

Great work to all those who came out to the last league meet for Track & Field yesterday! Claremont has shown tremendous sportsmanship throughout the season and we are excited to head to Islands in a few weeks. Special shout out to the grade 9 boys (Jordy Neary, Sam Travia, Graeson Cole-Murphy, and Ben Manns) who placed first in their 4x100 relay!

Foodsafe Level 1 Training

Good News! Another Foodsafe Level 1 course has been booked for June 9th.  Saturday June 9th, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm @ the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. Cost is $50.00 (due June 1st). Registration information in the Career Centre. Sign up now!

Employment Advisor Visit – May 9
Save the date for a visit from Employment Advisor, Lana Millot, next week on WEDNESDAY, May 9, at lunch in the Student Lounge.  Learn about how to get started with getting a job or how to get training for the job you want. Also, she will have information on how to get funding for Forklift Training, Traffic Control Ticket, Serving It Right, First Aid and more. See you there!

UVic Registration 101 – May 15
Students already registered or thinking about registering with UVic are invited to attend a Registration 101 presentation on TUESDAY, May 15 at lunch in the Learning Commons. Save the date!

OSEF Student Exchange - Application Deadline
There is still time to apply for a 2018/2019 exchange to Europe with OSEF. Experience France, Belgium or Spain for 1 month this summer or 11 weeks next year with a reciprocal exchange program. Application submission deadline is approaching quickly. Please see Mrs. Rhodes in the Career Centre for more information.

Face-Painting Training
There will be a FREE Professional Face Painting workshop on Saturday May 26, 2018, 1:00-3:00 pm at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. Learn how the professionals do it and help at the summer markets or start your own business! Visit the Career Centre for more info.

Be A Buddy for a Japanese Student
Students, 15-19 years old, are needed to Be A Buddy for a group of visiting Japanese students July 5, 6, and 7th. English must be your first language. Approx. 4 hours per day at $12.00 per hour, lunch included as well as admission to various sightseeing locations. Training provided. Visit the Career Centre for application information.

GRAD 2018
Are Your Grad Packages Overdue?

The grad packages (forms and payment) were due LAST FRIDAY.  If you have not returned your packages,  it is essential that you do so right away.  The ceremony tickets for guests will be assigned in the same order that the forms & payment have been received.  That means, the sooner your payment is submitted, the better seats your family will have in the audience!!  Forms and payment go to the Accounting Office.

Grad Slide Show
A reminder to all grads to please make sure you submit a few photos of yourselves as babies and younger children for our slide show.  Please submit these to the office.

Dry Grad Planning 2018
The Dry Grad Planning Committee invites all parent/guardians of the 2018 Grad class to follow the Claremont Dry Grad Facebook page to keep informed on the planning of the All Night Dry Grad at UVic, Thursday June 28th.

Dry Grad Fundraiser – 50/50 Raffle Sales Deadline is TODAY
TODAY is the last day of ticket sales for the 50/50 Raffle, sponsored by the Parent After Grad Committee. Tickets are $5 each.   Brenda Chan, PAC Chair, will draw the winning ticket on May 8th at the Dry Grad Committee meeting. We have a gaming license to sell $18,000 worth of tickets. Students 13 & older may sell and purchase tickets. Potential winnings are based solely on sales; one prize, half of the ticket sales. Good luck!

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.

Youth Clinic
The main Victoria Youth Clinic is open to all youth and is located at  818 Douglas Street on the 3rd floor. It is open Monday to Thursday 11-5 and Friday 11-4.
