GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
3D Printer Claremont Keychains

Get your very own Claremont keychain made on a 3D printer by our very own student, Braiden!  They are only $5 and will be for sale in the Student Lounge TODAY and every WEDNESDAY at lunch. They represent Spartan spirit as well as many various clubs, teams and interests. You can even ask Braiden to custom print your very own unique design or idea!

'Get Caught Reading' Month
May is ‘Get Caught Reading’ Month at the Learning Commons. Tweet your reading selfies to @SD63ClaremontLC for chance to win free pizza as part of the May Days celebration. There will be themed books and displays all month so please drop by and enjoy!

Literary Spotlight
Four local authors and creators from Victoria will be on hand to speak to students about their career paths and adventures TOMORROW (May 10th)  for the Literary Spotlight event. As a result, the Learning Commons will be closed that day.

Student Success
Xavier Pelletier High School Internship Program:  Congratulations to Grace Bernard and Nicholas Fedrigo on their selection as two of the four grade 11 students from Vancouver Island who will be working this summer at the BC Cancer Agency. They will be spend July and August engaged in front line biomedical research learning the latest techniques being used today in the fight against cancer.

Year-Long Drama – Upcoming Play
The Year-Long Drama production of THE DINING ROOM is running from May 16-19 and 23-26 nightly at 7:30pm in the Ridge Playhouse.  This play features 58 characters and 17 scenes, all taking place in one dining room. Some scenes are funny, some poignant. It is a study on the various purposes that dining rooms have had in our lives, but seem to be having less of, as society seems to get busier and busier.  Tickets are $7.50 at the door. The play is approximately 2 hours long, and includes an intermission.  For more info: cplant@sd63.bc.ca

May is Relationships Month
Staff, keep your eyes peeled this month for students who are building and maintaining healthy relationships in the Claremont community, and nominate them for our Relationships Lunch. Students, have a look at the "3 Rs" posters to get an idea of what staff will be looking for.

Spring Music Cafe
Spring Music Cafe is coming up May 23th. If you are interested in performing, please contact Mrs. English by May 18th.

Pianist Needed
One of the musical groups in the Music Cafe is looking for a piano player to accompany their song.  Please see Mrs. English if you would like to be part of this group.

Math Club - Student Success

Results of the Euclid, Fryer, Galois and Hypatia math contests are now posted in the Math wing.  Special congratulations to Sam Dang, who finished 1st place in BC on the Galois contest!!

VEX Robotics
Reminder to all members of the VEX Robotics club:  you must attend TODAY’s meeting at lunch if you want to participate in the next Battlebots Challenge.

Foodsafe Level 1 Training

Foodsafe Level 1 course: Saturday June 9th, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm @ the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. Cost is $50.00 (due June 1st). Registration information in the Career Centre.

Employment Advisor Visit – Today
Employment Advisor, Lana Millot, will be here TODAY at lunch in the Student Lounge.  Learn about how to get started with getting a job or how to get training for the job you want. Also, she will have information on how to get funding for Forklift Training, Traffic Control Ticket, Serving It Right, First Aid and more. See you there!

UVic Registration 101 – May 15
Students already registered or thinking about registering with UVic are invited to attend a Registration 101 presentation next week on TUESDAY, May 15 at lunch in the Learning Commons. Save the date!

OSEF Student Exchange - Application Deadline
There is still time to apply for a 2018/2019 exchange to Europe with OSEF. Experience France, Belgium or Spain for 1 month this summer or 11 weeks next year with a reciprocal exchange program. Application submission deadline is approaching quickly. Please see Mrs. Rhodes in the Career Centre for more information.

Face-Painting Training
There will be a FREE Professional Face Painting workshop on Saturday May 26, 2018, 1:00-3:00 pm at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. Learn how the professionals do it and help at the summer markets or start your own business! Visit the Career Centre for more info.

Be A Buddy for a Japanese Student
Students, 15-19 years old, are needed to Be A Buddy for a group of visiting Japanese students July 5, 6, and 7th. English must be your first language. Approx. 4 hours per day at $12.00 per hour, lunch included as well as admission to various sightseeing locations. Training provided. Visit the Career Centre for application information.

Summer babysitting: A local Cordova Bay resident is looking for someone to babysit 3 boys aged 2, 5 & 7 from 9 a.m. - 12:00 p.m  Monday to Friday through the summer. 
Multiple outside yard and garden jobs in the Sidney/North Saanich area. Short term work available weeding, turning soil, or general yard clean-up, and long-term weekly lawn mowing. Get paid to work outside, get fresh air and help someone out. Wages ranging from $12 to $25 per hour!

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.

Youth Clinic
The main Victoria Youth Clinic is open to all youth and is located at  818 Douglas Street on the 3rd floor. It is open Monday to Thursday 11-5 and Friday 11-4.
