GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
NYC 2019 Spring Break
This upcoming Spring Break, Mr. Plant will be leading a Performing Arts-focused Trip to New York City and you're invited!  It's not too late to join in on this amazing opportunity. Interested students are invited to attend a meeting on FRIDAY at lunch in the theatre.  Parents are also welcome to participate on this trip. School Forms
Reminder to please return all outstanding school forms to the office this week (student demographics, locker selection, Google Accounts, Student fees.

Photo Day
Photo Day is this THURSDAY Sept 13th in blocks 1 and 2.  Purchasing photos is optional, but all students in all grades need to have school photos taken, for school identification purposes (grade 12’s too - even if you are having grad photos taken later).  Order forms are available in the office.  There is also an option to order photos on the Lifetouch website; the office also has those order forms.

CLUBS
Vex Robotics

Any students interested in learning about Claremont's VEX Robotics club is asked to attend a meeting TODAY at lunch in room 220. No previous robotics experience is necessary.

Key Club
If you want to get your service hours, help people and make new friends, come check out the first Key Club meeting this THURSDAY at lunch in Ms. Pang's room (room 135).

Math Club
For anyone who is potentially interested in writing Math contests this year, please have a look at the contest board outside room 133, or come speak to Mr. Skanks in room 130.  There will be information about Math Club next week.

Spirit Squad
The first Spirit Squad meeting is TUESDAY at lunch in the Dance Studio room 246. This club will be planning and supporting fun school spirit events. See Ms Giordano or Ms McManus for more info.

Fall Sports - Teams and Tryouts
For any and all questions regarding school Athletics and teams, please see Mr Reisig in the PE Office or see the coaches listed below.

Rowing  (Mr Peacock) – For all students interested in rowing on the Claremont team, there is an important meeting TODAY in the small gym at lunch. Talk to Mr Peacock if you can not attend.
Girls Field Hockey (Ms. Taylor ) -  practice continues TODAY right after school.  
Jr Girls Volleyball (Mr Freeburn/Mr Ryan) –  practice continues THURSDAY 3:45-5:25 in the main gym.
Sr Girls Volleyball (Mr Freeburn/Mr Phillips) -  practice continues THURSDAY 5:30-7:15 pm in the main gym.
Sr Boys Volleyball (Mr Ryan) -  practice continues THURSDAY 5:30-7:15 pm in the main gym.

CAREER CENTRE
Job Opportunity

Adrienne's Tea Garden at Mattick's Farm is looking for dishwashers and cashier personnel.  Must be 16 older; experience is an asset.  Please see Mr. Arsenault in the Career Centre for application information.

Work Experience 12 Credits
A reminder to students wishing to receive Work Experience credits for this year, that you need to register with Mr. Arsenault before the September 30th deadline!  If you have a job or are volunteering, register soon to receive credit for your hours! This time can also count toward the grade 12 Grad Transition requirement. Please visit the Career Centre to sign up soon!

Training Opportunities

Food Safe Level 1  - Friday, October 19th, 2018 - (Pro-D Day)- 8:30 am to 4:30 pm - at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney - 10030 Resthaven Drive - Cost is $50. Food Safe is useful for anyone working or wishing to work in the food service, food retail, or food processing industries. You will learn how to handle food safely in order to prevent food from being contaminated.
Retail Training
- *FREE* - This certificate program prepares you for first time work experiences in retail & many other work environments. You will be treated as an employee & you will be working alongside a busy team of staff members. This is a full day commitment on Sundays for 4 weeks each month. Train in working a cash register & counting cash, customer service, creating displays and more! Brentwood Bay and Sidney locations.
Alert First Aid with CPR "C" & AED - Saturday, October 20th, 2018 - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. Cost is $50.

COMMUNITY NEWS
Free Passes for Western Speedway

Claremont has been given a large number of FREE family passes for Western Speedway for this SATURDAY Sept 15th.  Races include: Wing Sprint Cars, Stock Cars, Minis, Otra, and Dwarfs.  Students and staff: come to the office to pick up some tickets.  Each family pass is good for 2 adults + 2 youth.
