Remembrance Day Assemblies
This FRIDAY, Claremont will dedicate blocks 1 and 2 for our Remembrance Day assemblies, to honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women who served our country, and those who continue to serve, in order to preserve our Canadian values and freedoms. Thank you to the men and women of our Canadian military: the soldiers, medics, equipment technicians, pilots, support staff and peacekeepers. This year is an especially notable year, as this is 100th anniversary of the World War 1 armistice. Lest we forget.

Spirit Squad's next Theme Day is Pyjama Day NEXT FRIDAY Nov. 16. You get a free Hot Chocolate at lunch in the lounge if you're wearing PJs.
Jr Boys Soccer
The Jr Boys Soccer team won the Island Championships yesterday! The boys defeated Stelly's, Royal Bay, and Mark Isfeld before facing off against a talented Reynold's squad. In a nail-biter of a final, the boys tied the game up in the second half and managed to win on penalty shots after extra-time. Go Spartans!
Jr Girls Volleyball
The Jr Girls Volleyball team won the City Championships on Monday! We played SMUS in the semi-finals whom the girls beat handily to advance to the City Finals. In the last match of the evening, we went toe-to-toe with PCS, a familiar rivalry for us. We won the first match 25-21, and ended up losing the second set 22-25. Thankfully, we got hot at again to begin the shortened third set, and managed to win comfortably 15-9 to clinch the City Championship. With that win, we are off this upcoming weekend to participate in the Island Championships at Brentwood College. Go Spartans!
Sr Boys Volleyball
The Sr Boys Volleyball team is competing TONIGHT at in the City "AAA" Championships at Oak Bay. Please come out and support your Spartans as they face Royal Bay at 6:45pm. A win will put them in the final at 8pm. Go Spartans!

Encounters With Canada: Time Limited Offer!
Encounters With Canada is offering an amazing opportunity for it's upcoming Sports & Fitness week - Nov. 18-24 - remaining seats are being offered at $75 on a first come first served basis! Travel to and from Ottawa is paid for! Your adventure may include wall climbing, martial arts, Kin-Ball, Ultimate Frisbee, fitness boot camp and more! Fire/Rescue Camp: Deadline To Apply Nov 8
Applications for the 2019 Fire/Rescue Camp are due November 8! Do you ever wonder what it’s like to run into a building that everyone else is running out of? Dream of using an extrication tool to cut up a car and extricate a victim? Think you could dangle off the end of a rope 50 feet in the air? Want to make a difference? If you have answered yes to any of the questions, you are a great candidate for the Southern Gulf Islands Fire/Rescue Cadet Camp taking place during one week of Spring Break 2019. Time is running out for application submissions, so please see Mr Arsenault asap if interested.

Soldier For A Day- Work/Study Program
The BC Army Reserve is hosting a Soldier for a Day program on SATURDAY, November 17th. This program is an introduction to the role of the BC Army Reserve both here in your home community, across Canada and even around the world. It’s also worth 6 1/2 hours of work experience. Don’t wait too long to sign up, as spaces are filling up fast!
For students in grades 10 to 12: the BC Army Reserve is also hosting a full time SUMMER employment program; this includes leadership training, paid community service, plus up to $8000 of educational reimbursement funding. See Mr. Arsenault in the Career Centre for more information on both of these opportunities.

Students interested in Art and Design: mark your calendars for the Art Colleges Fair on Wednesday, November 28th at St. Michael's University School, from 6:00-7:30 pm! This art fair is a great opportunity for students to learn about a number of art and design programs in the U.S. and Canada. Visit the Career Centre for a list of the art schools that will be participating.

Cordova Bay Local Area Plan: Transportation
The District of Saanich is updating the Cordova Bay Local Area Plan. Residents are invited to attend their next workshop on THURSDAY, November 8th called Building The Plan: Workshop #1 = Transportation . The District of Saanich has taken the input you’ve provided so far and put together policy options on transportation for the Local Area Plan update. You're invited to provide your feedback at the drop-in interactive displays and/or join them for a scheduled workshop. They want your input on how they can improve connections, pedestrian safety, cycling networks, transit and vehicle circulation. Refreshments provided for everyone.
