GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Spartan Wear – Orders Due Sept 27
Spartan Wear is on sale!! If you would like to buy a Claremont Spartan hoodie, shirt, sweat pants, or lanyard, please pick up an order form from the Accounting Office. All sales are pre-order only. Deadline for orders is THIS FRIDAY Sept. 27 to Ms. Marshall in the Accounting office. Estimated time for clothing to arrive at Claremont is mid-October.
Breakfast at the Spartan Store
The Spartan Store is now open from 8:15 to 8:45 Monday - Thursday. Menu includes breakfast sandwiches, smoothies, coffee and hot chocolate. Cash or punch cards only.
Leadership Camp: Permission Forms Due Sept 25
Students going to the Leadership Camp, your forms must be in to Ms Giordano or Mr Plant by the end of the day TOMORROW (Wednesday).
Spartan Day – Sept 26
Spartan Days typically happen 3 times a year. The purpose is to celebrate being a Spartan and also to fund-raise or give back to our community in some way. This Spartan Day, we are supporting the Terry Fox Foundation with our “Toonies For Terry” campaign. On Sept 26, we will ask students and staff to donate toonies in their block 2 classes. Our goal is to raise $2500 for the Terry Fox Foundation. We encourage everyone to wear RED to show Spartan Spirit!

Spirit Day Lunch
Camosun Cuisine Machine Food Truck will be outside the student lounge serving lunch on Spartan Day. See the menu posted throughout the school; the theme is Indian Curry House & Burger Shack. The cafeteria will have limited service on this day.
Terry Fox Run: Grade 12 Helpers
All Grads helping with the Terry Fox Run, please come to a quick meeting on WEDNESDAY at the start of lunch in the dance studio.
Meet The Teachers: Sept 26 pm
We look forward to seeing parents on THURSDAY September 26, 6:00 - 8:00 pm for the Meet The Teachers Parent Night. Please come prepared with your student’s teacher names, bock rotation and classroom numbers. The schedule for this event is posted on the front of the Claremont website.

Sr Boys Volleyball
Congratulations to the Sr. Boys Volleyball Team who went undefeated this past weekend to win the Camosun Chargers Volleyball Tournament. We had consistent play from Nik Babaeff, Jordan Yue and Ethan Boag. The coaches honourable mention for all Star was Shaun Schonert. Crash Wergeland was named first all star and Kaden Brajcich was the tournament MVP. Go Spartans!!
Home Opener is THIS WEDNESDAY night at Claremont (action starts at 5:45pm). The Spartans will be hosting Stellys, Royal Bay and PCS in the big gym. Wear red and come out and support your Spartans (who are currently ranked #2 in BC)!
Jr Girls Volleyball
Shout-out our Junior Girls Volleyball team who had a great weekend at VIU this past weekend. The girls went undefeated in their pool play en route to a 5th place finish in the 24 team tournament. Go Spartans!
Lacrosse Success
Last week was an exciting week for Claremont Spartan lacrosse alumni (and one current lacrosse Spartan.
Invitations were given to current Spartan Levi Verch and 4 Claremont alumni (Liam Phillips, Patrick Dodds, Arthur Miller, and Ryan Sheridan) to the U19 Team Canada tryout camp to represent Canada in Ireland at the World Championships in the summer of 2020. Congratulations!!
7 Spartan alumni competed in the Mann Cup national championship with the Victoria Shamrocks.
Zach Manns (Grad 2016) and Marshal King (Grad 2015) were drafted into the NLL (professional lacrosse) last week. Zach was selected by the Toronto Rock, and Marshal was selected by the Calgary Roughnecks. A total of 10 Spartans are now mixed throughout the professional lacrosse ranks.

Minor Test Shoppers for Island Health are needed to conduct compliance checks on retail outlets in the Southern Vancouver Island area. Must be between 14 and 18 years of age. This is a paid position of approx. $14 per hour.
Elections Canada is looking for students 16 and older to help with the upcoming Federal Election on Monday, October 21st., as well as the possibility of the Advance Polls over four days of the Thanksgiving long weekend, Friday, Oct. 11 to Monday, Oct. 14. Information about the roles, responsibilities, expectations and remuneration can be found online at elections.ca.
Outside work using wheel barrow, dolly, and buckets to help install a drainage system in backyard of residence. 12 hours over 2-3 days @ $20 per hour.
UVic School of Health Information Science Open House – Oct 16
The School of Health Information Sciences is hosting its Fall Open House on Wednesday, October 16th, 4:30-6:00pm at UVic’s Cornett Building room A125. Students interested in the life sciences, medicine and/or information technology would be especially interested in these programs. Students are invited to learn more about this exciting field by talking with faculty and students. Food Safe Level 1 - Friday Oct. 25Th, 8:30 am –4:30 pm @ SHOAL Centre in Sidney, 10030 Resthaven Drive. Cost is $50.00 - Cash, cheque or credit card is accepted. Food Safe is useful for anyone working in the food service, food retail, or food processing industries. You will learn how to handle food safely in order to prevent food from being contaminated.
Alert First Aid With CPR "C" & AED - Saturday, November 22, 2019 -8:30 am to 4:00 pm @ SHOAL Centre, 10030 Resthaven Drive. Cost is $50.00 -Cash, cheque or credit card is accepted. This fun, interactive, and comprehensive 8-hour course trains people how to react & improvise during life threatening emergencies. This course meets the Adult & Child Licensing Guidelines.

Grads, it is time to book your grad photos. Lifetouch is bringing their portable photo studio to Claremont for a limited time, October 7-18. To book your appointment, please go to the Grad Portrait website: schedule.prestigeportraits.ca Don't put this off until later, or all of the appointments will be booked up and you will run out of time. Sitting fee of $25 is due at the time of your appointment (if you know you are not purchasing photos, no sitting fee is required, but we DO need you to have a photo taken for the yearbook). Peninsula Youth Clinic
For all youth aged 12-24: the Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney (250-656-4143) and is open EVERY THURSDAY from 5:30 – 7:30pm, providing services for mental, physical, and sexual health. A doctor and mental health clinician is on hand.
Walk-ins are welcome! Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone.
