ScreamFest - The biggest Halloween party in town!
Claremont is hosting the 11th annual ScreamFest Halloween event TONIGHT & THURSDAY (October 23 & 24). 2 Haunted Walks, new mid-way games, a Costume Contest, BBQ dinner, and lots of scary fun! Tickets are on sale every day at lunch time in the Spartan Store and the theatre box office. $10 per person includes admission, 1 Haunt and 1 midway game. Additional coupons are available for purchase at the event. Admission tickets are also available at the door.
Motivational Day – Friday Oct 25
If you are interested in learning about a variety of social justice and environmental issues, Youth for Change and Inclusion Victoria (YCI) is hosting Motivational Day this FRIDAY October 25th at the Royal Canadian Legion in Langford, 8:30-3:00. Enjoy free food while listening to speakers on topics such as Immigration, Leadership, Tibetan Rights, Youth Homelessness and more. Meet other youth who want to make a difference. Numeracy Assessment – Nov 5 & 6
All grade 12's that still need to write their Numeracy Assessment, please sign yourself up for a spot on November 5 or November 6 in the office. The Numeracy Assessment is a graduation requirement that all grade 12's need to write.
Breakfast Club – Thursday Mornings
Claremont‘s PAC-sponsored Breakfast Club will begin this THURSDAY at 8:30 a.m. and will run on Thursday mornings for the school year. Come to the Student Lounge for a free bagel, spread, and juice box to fuel your body for the day.
Student Parking – Registration Required
Reminder to all students who are parking in the student parking lot: you must be registered to park there. Permission forms are in the office. To become registered, the office needs: a parent-signed registration form, a photocopy of your driver’s licence, a photocopy of your car insurance, and $2 for the parking pass. Only 11 students have registered so far, but MANY are parking in the student parking lot.
Photo Retake Day – TOMORROW Oct. 24
Photo retake day TOMORROW (Thursday) in block 1 in the Learning Commons, if you missed the first photo day, or if you want a new photo taken. If you want retakes, you must return your complete original package (and I.D. card) to the photographer at the time of retakes. Purchasing photos is optional, but all students in all grades need to have school photos taken, for school identification purposes (grade 12’s too - even if you are having grad photos taken). Order forms are available in the office.

Nintendo Club Meets every THURSDAY at lunch in Room 215. Bring your Nintendo switch controllers this Thursday to join in on the fun!
Student Council: Hallo-Week
Student council is hosting HALLO-WEEK with fun events each day at lunch next week.
MONDAY – play a game of Kahoot in the theatre.
TUESDAY – come watch a movie in the theatre.
WEDNESDAY- there will be a Pie Eating Contest in the student lounge.
THURSDAY is the annual Costume Contest in the gym. Prizes will be given for best individual and group costume. See you there!

Sr Girls Volleyball
Congratulations to the Senior Girls Volleyball team who defeated PCS and Oak Bay to win the City Championships last night. Next up for the Spartans is the Island Championships, which we host! Go Spartans!!

There is an important Curling meeting TODAY at lunch in room 225.
Field Hockey
Field Hockey team has a meeting TODAY at lunch in room 276 to arrange rides to our game and check our numbers. Permission and information forms for Islands will be handed out as well.

Canadian Coast Guard
Students interested in careers in the Coast Guard: sometime during the week of Nov. 12-15, Claremont will be hosting a Coast Guard Recruitment Officer to present and discuss opportunities for students to join the Canadian Coast Guard. If you are interested in attending this presentation, please sign up at the Career Centre.

A part-time dishwasher/cashier is needed at Adrienne’s Tea Garden at Mattick’s Farm.
Part-time yard work help is needed by a local senior citizen. $15 per hour.

Magic Wand Project
Magic Wand Project is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. This is a chance to borrow, rather than buy, a dress, suit or tux, (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge). All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included. Peninsula Youth Clinic
For all youth aged 12-24: the Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney (250-656-4143) and is open EVERY THURSDAY from 5:30 – 7:30pm, providing services for mental, physical, and sexual health. A doctor and mental health clinician is on hand.
Walk-ins are welcome! Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone.
