Lost & Found

There is a lot of unclaimed winter clothing in the office; watch for a lost & found table set up in the horseshoe hallway next week!!


Pizza Fundraiser Today

If you like pizza and/or want to support Claremont Boys Basketball, come to the cafeteria TODAY at lunch to buy a slice or two! $2.50/slice. Thank you for supporting our Spartans teams.


Bake Sale Today

Students going to Peru over Spring Break will be setting up a bake sale TODAY at lunch in the cafeteria area. Bring your sweet tooth! Also, check out Judith Wong's amazing soaps for sale while you are there.  


Grade 9 Immunizations – Forms Due Back Today

Reminder that the deadline to return immunization consent forms to the office is TODAY.  

Contact the local Health Unit at 250-519-3490 to discuss further.


Photo Retakes are Here

If you had photo retakes taken, they are available for pickup in the office. New student I.D. cards too.


Bus Passes are Here

If you are registered to ride the school bus, the bus passes have finally arrived.  Please come to the office to pick yours up.  The bus drivers will start asking to see them soon.


PAC Fundraising – Country Grocer Receipts

Support the Claremont PAC with your Country Grocer Receipts!  Funds go towards the Breakfast Program, Grad 2020 and other clubs within our school community. Receipts can be dropped off at the Claremont office.  Thank you!


Student Parking – Registration Required

Reminder to all students who are parking in the student parking lot: you must be registered to park there. Permission forms are in the office. To become registered, the office needs: a parent-signed registration form, a photocopy of your driver’s licence, a photocopy of your car insurance, and $2 for the parking pass.

YCI

As part of YCI’s ‘Random Acts of Kindness Week’, they are selling Candy Cane Grams!!  You can buy a Candy Cane Gram for a friend!  They will be for sale TODAY at lunch in the Student Lounge. $1 each.  They will be delivered to your friends on Wednesday Dec.18th in block 3.


ATHLETICS

Jr Boys ‘B’ Basketball

Jr Boys ‘B’ Basketball has a practice TODAY after school in the small gym.


Sr Boys ‘A’ Basketball

Come support the Senior Boys “A” Basketball team TONIGHT at 6pm here at Claremont, as they take on the 6th ranked team in BC, St Georges. Go Spartans!


Girls Lacrosse

All students in the Girls' Lacrosse class in semester 2: please attend an important meeting on TUESDAY at the beginning of lunch in room 276 (the textiles/foods room). You will get your clothing/equipment order form to take home and fill out. If you cannot attend, please email Ms. Taylor and let her know.


CAREER CENTRE

Fire/Rescue Cadet Camp - Applications by Dec 18!

Reminder to sign up for the JDF Fire/Rescue Cadet Camp by December 18!  Camp runs March 16 – 21, 2020. For information & applications, please visit the Career Centre. Upon completion, students qualify for 100 Work Experience hours, equivalent to 4 school credits.


Free Training in Computer Science at UVic

Students in Grades 10-12 can attend free training in Computer Science during winter, spring, and summer breaks at HighTechU, a division of UVic.  Visit the Career Centre for more information!


Explorations in Technology

Registration is ongoing for TEAC 105 (Engineering Sampler-Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Computer), taking place at Camosun through the South Island Partnership. There are still spots for Feb 2020.  Talk to Jen Loukes in the Career Centre soon, if you're interested!

Grade 12 Students!  Are you working on your Grad Transitions yet?  Come to the Career Centre for your sheets, and get your interview, DPA, and 30 hours of WEX or Volunteering done sooner than later... Why wait!


Grad Photos

First time bookings only:  The online bookings for grad photos is now open for two days only:  Monday, January 20th & Tuesday, January 21st

Retakes: If you need to book retakes, those appointments will be done at the Lifetouch Studio.  Please contact Lifetouch to book an appointment by calling 250-744-4100.

Broadmead and Cordova Bay: BC Transit Planning

Phase One open houses occurred last fall and stakeholder engagement occurred in the spring.  BC Transit has taken peoples’ feedback and developed some potential route modifications as well as brand new routes within the plan area.

In the new year, BC Transit plans to bring these potential route changes forward for public review. See below for details:

Monday Jan. 20 @ Lochside Elementary, 1145 Royal Oak Dr.

3:30 -6:30 pm


Wednesday Jan. 22 @ Cordova Bay United Church, 813 Claremont Ave.

2:00 – 5:00 pm

There will be an accompanying survey available online as well through the BC Transit website. More details on the survey will be made available closer to the date.


Parents As Education And Career Coaches – Jan 30

Are you the parent of a high school student? Would you like to help them with their post-secondary choices? This is an interactive workshop designed to give you the skills and confidence you need.  Educational Planner is presenting "Parents as Education and Career Coaches" on THURSDAY January 30th, 6:30 pm, at Stelly's Secondary School. Peninsula Youth Clinic 

For all youth aged 12-24: the Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney (250-656-4143) and is open EVERY THURSDAY from 5:30 – 7:30pm, providing services for mental, physical, and sexual health. A doctor and mental health clinician is on hand.  Walk-ins are welcome! Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone.
