GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mid-Day School Bussing
A reminder to all block 1 teachers: please check in with your students and send the names of all those who need to use the school bus to get to school mid-day for the second 5-weeks of Quarter 1.
Students must make sure they are registered to ride the bus and use their bus pass. On MONDAY October 13, we begin alternating our morning classes with a groups A & B rotation; the afternoon classes will then run 5 days per week.
Early Dismissal Thursday Oct. 8
A reminder to students and parents that THIS THURSDAY Oct. 8 is an early dismissal, so that staff can prepare for parent-teacher interviews in the evening. The class schedule will be:
Early block: 8:00 – 9:00
Support: 9:00 – 9:15
Block 1: 9:15 – 11:15
Lunch: 11:15 – 12:00
Block 2: 12:00 – 2:00
Support: 2:00 – 2:15
Late block: 2:15 – 3:15

Designing Apps
Are you interested in learning how to design a mobile app? Learn from professional designers and developers. No previous computer experience necessary. Please see Mr. Beeston TODAY or TUESDAY at lunch in Rm 236 for more information.
Spartan Day & Toonies for Terry– Oct. 9
Spartan Days typically happen 3 times a year. The purpose is to celebrate being a Spartan and also to fund-raise or give back to our community in some way. This Spartan Day, we are supporting the Terry Fox Foundation with our “Toonies For Terry” campaign. THIS FRIDAY Oct.9, we will ask students and staff to donate toonies in their block 1 classes. We encourage everyone to wear RED to show Spartan Spirit!
Did you know that this year marks the 40 year anniversary of the Terry Fox Run? His dream lives on.
After School Homework Club
For all students who would like extra help in English, Math, Social Studies and Science: help from Education Assistants is available on TUESDAYS and WEDNESDAYS 3:00-4:00 after school in room 235 (computer lab). All students in all grades are welcome. Please wear a mask.

Scholarships
TODAY is the deadline to submit your application to Ms Tong for the Loran Scholarship. The Loran Scholarship is awarded to exceptional graduating students who have demonstrated leadership and who give back to their communities through volunteering and service. The top prize is valued at $100,000 with several smaller prizes at $5000 and $2000. Nomination information can be found on the Claremont website. Peninsula Youth Clinic
Peninsula Youth Clinic is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor. To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.
Foundry Youth Clinic
Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness services, with doctors, mental health workers, and peer support workers. Foundry is open for virtual and on-site appointments. To make an appointment, call 250-383-3552. Phones are answered beginning at 10:30AM on weekdays to schedule appointments for the day.
