GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Non-Instructional Day - FRIDAY Nov. 20

Reminder that TOMORROW is a Professional Development Day for Claremont staff and there are no classes. Have a great 3-day weekend.


Pyjama Day – TODAY

TODAY is Pyjama Day!!! It’s great to see so many students and staff looking cozy in their onesies and pjs!!


Report Cards – TODAY

Report Cards from Quarter 1 will be handed out to students TODAY in block 1 classes. IF you do not have a block 1 class, please pick up your report card in the office.


Morning Breaktime Food Service

Starting MONDAY November 23, the Spartan Store. located just beside the cafeteria service window, will be open for breakfast and snack service between 10 and 11 every morning. They will have reasonably priced coffee, hot chocolate, hash browns, breakfast wraps and baked goods..... perfect for a mid-morning treat. Cash or lunch cards only (lunch cards can bought from the Accounting office for $5 or $10).


ATHLETICS

Intramurals Start Monday Nov 23

Starting Monday Nov. 23, intramural sports will be offered at lunch time. Teams will be formed based upon pre-assigned ‘intramural cohorts’ in Junior and Senior divisions, and students can sign up online for our first offering: indoor soccer. Unfortunately, there will be no spectators permitted, due to COVID precautions. For information, consent form and registration, refer to the infomation billboard at the top of the Claremont website home page:Claremont Athletics / Intramural Sports Registration.” Please hand in completed consent forms at the main office. Please register before Nov. 20. Teams will be formed and a schedule posted on FRIDAY Nov 20th. For any questions, please contact Mr. Reisig or Mr. Freeburn.


CLUBS

E-Sports Team - TODAY

For all Claremont E-Sports players: there is an important meeting TODAY at lunch with Mr. van Erp in Room 133. We will be discussing registration and it is key that you are there. Please wear a mask and come as close to the start of lunch as possible.


Trivia Club - TODAY

ROOM CHANGE TODAY: Trivia club will be in room 303 TODAY (Ms. Harte's room) because Ms. Tong's room is being painted. If you love trivia, come for some friendly trivia competition and please wear a mask.


Photography Club - TODAY

A new Photography Club starts TODAY at lunch in room 207. Come check it out! Everyone welcome.


GSA - TODAY

Claremont's GSA (Gender and Sexuality Alliance) meets TODAY and every THURSDAY at lunch in room 320. Please wear a mask. Email or come see Ms. Gordon-Cooper (room 320) if you have questions.


Knitting Club - TUESDAY

The Knitting Club is back!! We will be meeting on TUESDAYS at lunch in room 323 with Ms. Tong. Bring your projects if you currently have one in progress. If you'd like to learn how to knit, beginners are welcome too.

Job Opportunities

1. HighTechU has been granted funds through the extended Canada Summer Jobs program to hire a number of High-School Software Development Interns part-time, starting at the end of November until the end of February 2021. These positions will be virtual and will work directly for HighTechU, building out a selection of the projects created during the Academy for release as free and open source (FOSS) applications: https://hightechu.github.io/portfolio/

Applicants must be currently registered in a BC high-school and must be over the age of 15 to be eligible. UVic Info Sessions (Virtual) – Nov. 22

UVic Student Recruitment has organized many virtual events for Students and Parents...

For example, Parent Nights will provide parents/guardians/supporters the opportunity to learn more about UVic. Attendees will enjoy a presentation by Dr. Lisa Surridge, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, with some helpful tips on being successful in post-secondary studies. The focus of the talk is helping parents (and students) navigate the transition from high school to university. The upcoming Parent Night is: Sunday Nov.22 at 5pm. Grade 12’s: Did you know that YOU can access your own transcripts from the Student Transcript Service website? You can view your transcript and/or send them to a Post-Secondary Institution of your choice, at any time. It is easy to make a BCeID account on the Student Transcript Service. Courage To Come Back Awards
Have you been inspired by someone who has overcome overwhelming challenges and quietly goes about making the world a better place for all of us? The Courage to Come Back Awards recognize British Columbians who have overcome adversity or illness and have gone on to become role models for others. Recipients are selected in each of the following categories: Mental Health, Addiction, Medical, Physical Rehabilitation, and Youth. Peninsula Youth Clinic

Peninsula Youth Clinic is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor. To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.


Foundry Youth Clinic

Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness services, with doctors, mental health workers, and peer support workers. Foundry is open for virtual and on-site appointments. To make an appointment, call 250-383-3552. Phones are answered beginning at 10:30AM on weekdays to schedule appointments for the day.
