GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Course Drop Date – Jan.22
The last day to drop a Quarter 2 course and not have it show up on your student transcript is FRIDAY January 22. A course drop form, signed by a parent, must be submitted to drop a course. These are available by the Career Centre and in the main office. Students must see a counsellor WITH the signed course drop form.
Plaid Day
Our next school-wide theme day is Plaid Day on FRIDAY January 22. Wear your best plaid shirt or ensemble to show some school spirit.
ATHLETICS
Lunchtime Intramurals: Speedball
Claremont Athletics staff are pleased to announce our next lunchtime intramural sport, Speedball! Aiming to start January 20th, “Bubble Bowl #2” teams will be formed based upon pre-assigned ‘intramural cohorts’ in Junior and Senior divisions. Please register on the Claremont website, http://www.claremontathletics.ca/ before MONDAY, Jan 18. More info can be found on the Claremont website’s Quick Links under “Intramurals/Athletics”.
Players will be required to wear: masks, proper shoes, and gym strip. Unfortunately, there will be no spectators permitted, due to COVID precautions. For any questions, please contact Mr. Reisig or Mr. Freeburn.

Job Opportunity
Farm/garden help. If you are interested in being outside and getting exercise, you may be a good candidate for this local job. Right now, the employer is looking for someone to help gather branches and do other odd jobs in the garden. Eventually, the job could increase to work in the vegetable garden and other areas of the property. Scheduling is flexible, starting at as little as 3 hours per week, working up to more hours and potential summer work. The farm is located on Old West Saanich Rd. on the other side of Elk Lake. UVic: Virtual Parent Night – TONIGHT

Grad Portrait Retakes: Jan.18 & 19
Time is running out. Grads, if you missed out on getting your grad portraits taken in October (or if you were unhappy with your portraits), the Lifetouch portable studio will be at Claremont for two days only: January 18 & 19. Students can book an appointment by going on the Grad Portrait website: schedule.prestigeportraits.ca Sitting fee of $25 is due at the time of your appointment (but if you know you are not purchasing photos, no sitting fee is required, but we DO need you to have a photo taken for the yearbook).
Student Transcript Service
Grade 12’s: Did you know that YOU can access your own transcripts from the Student Transcript Service website? You can view your transcript and/or send them to a Post-Secondary Institution of your choice, at any time. It is easy to make a BCeID account on the Student Transcript Service. Social Media Awareness, Digital Footprints, and Cyberbullying:
Zoom Symposium for Parents of School-Age Children – Jan.19
Saanich Schools is co-hosting a Parent Information evening brought to us through Safer Schools: “Social Media Awareness, Digital Footprints, and Cyberbullying--For Parents/Guardians of School-Aged Students.” This virtual session will provide a snapshot of current Social Media trends and equip parents and guardians in their digital parenting strategy: Tuesday January 19, 6:00-8:00 pm, including Q&A. Registration is FREE, but participants must register to receive the Zoom link. Space is limited (all 3 local School Districts are involved); sign up early to reserve your spot. Peninsula Youth Clinic
Peninsula Youth Clinic is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor. To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.
Foundry Youth Clinic
Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness services, with doctors, mental health workers, and peer support workers. Foundry is open for virtual and on-site appointments. To make an appointment, call 250-383-3552. Phones are answered beginning at 10:30AM on weekdays to schedule appointments for the day.
