Plaid Day – Today
It is great seeing all of the Plaid shirts and outfits today! Great school spirit!
Quarter 3 & 4 Timetables
Updated timetables for Quarter 3 & 4 will be handed out to students next week on MONDAY & TUESDAY (Jan.25 & 26) in Block 1 classes. Please make sure you pick it up, because there may have been some changes in room numbers or teachers since they were printed at the start of the year. If you don’t have a block 1 class, your timetable can be picked up in the main office on Monday and Tuesday.
Course Drop Date – TODAY
TODAY is the last day to drop a Quarter 2 course and not have it show up on your student transcript. A course drop form, signed by a parent, must be submitted to drop a course. These are available by the Career Centre and in the main office. Students must see a counsellor WITH the signed course drop form.
Lost & Found
A house key was found in the school on Wednesday. Please come to the office to claim it.
An empty Air Pod case was found on school bus #8 this week. Please contact the Transportation Department at the School Board office to claim it: 250-652-7343.
No Mid-Day School Busses NEXT FRIDAY Jan 29
Please be advised that there will NOT be mid-day school busses running on our Curriculum Completion Day (NEXT FRIDAY Jan 29th); regular classes are not in session that day, and only students who have make-up work to complete will be in the building. Any students who need to make their way to the building for the afternoon will need to find their own way to school that day. The morning and after school busses WILL be running that day.
Mid-Morning Breaktime Food Service
Reminder that the Spartan Store is open for breakfast and snack service 10:00-11:00 every morning, with reasonably-priced hot drinks and morning treats. Cash or lunch cards only.
ATHLETICS
Grade 9’s: Volleyball & Basketball – Meeting TODAY
Any and all Grade 9 Boys AND Girls interested in participating in after school sessions throughout Q3 & Q4 for Volleyball and Basketball are asked to come to an important information meeting TODAY at lunchtime in both of our Gyms. In order to cut down on the number of people in each gym at once, we are running two sessions for each grouping by splitting Gr 9's up as follows:
All Boys (Last name A-L) in the BIG gym from 11:50am-12:10pm
All Girls (Last name A-L) in the SMALL gym from 11:50am-12:10pm
All Boys (Last name M-Z) in the SMALL gym
from 12:15pm-12:35pm
All Girls (Last name M-Z) in the BIG gym from 12:15pm-12:35pm
Please remember to wear a mask (mandatory for attendance); if you have any questions/concerns, please speak with Mr. Buckham!
Lunchtime Intramurals: Speedball
TODAY is your last chance to sign up for Bubble Bowl #2 (Speedball Tournament). Teams will be formed in Junior and Senior divisions. Please register on the Claremont website, http://www.claremontathletics.ca/ before the end of TODAY. More info can be found on the Claremont website’s Quick Links under “Intramurals/Athletics”.
Players will be required to wear: masks, proper shoes, and gym strip. Unfortunately, there will be no spectators permitted, due to COVID precautions. For any questions, please contact Mr. Reisig or Mr. Freeburn.

Job Opportunity
Farm/garden help. If you are interested in being outside and
getting exercise, you may be a good candidate for this local job. Right
now, the employer is looking for someone to help gather branches and do other
odd jobs in the garden. Eventually, the job could increase to work in the
vegetable garden and other areas of the property. Scheduling is flexible,
starting at as little as 3 hours per week, working up to more hours and

Student Transcript Service
Grade 12’s: Did you know that YOU can access your own transcripts from the Student Transcript Service website? You can view your transcript and/or send them to a Post-Secondary Institution of your choice, at any time. It is easy to make a BCeID account on the Student Transcript Service. Grad Wear – Orders Due Jan. 29
Grad Wear order forms and display are at the Accounts office. Orders are due FRIDAY Jan 29 with no exceptions. Clothing options include: Hoodies, Crew Necks, Sweatpants, masks and lanyards. Also, if you would like to wear Cap & Gown to this year's Grad events, you must order your Gown on the Grad Wear order form too. Images of the clothing are shown on the Grad 2021 Page on the Claremont website!
Scholarships
BC Excellence Scholarship ($5000): Claremont can nominate one student for the BC Excellence Scholarship which is valued at $5000. The BC Excellence scholarship is awarded to those who have demonstrated service and leadership, both at school and in their communities, and who show aptitude for and commitment to their chosen career paths. If you would like to be nominated, submit a nomination application package to Ms. Tong. The link can be found on the Claremont Website Scholarships Page and the Scholarships Tracker. Deadline to submit application: January 29.
Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship ($5000): Students interested in pursing a career in teaching are encouraged to apply for this $5000 scholarship. Twenty awards will be given this year to graduating students across BC. The application is online and can be found on the Claremont Website Scholarships Page and the Scholarships Tracker. Deadline to submit online application: February 15.

Peninsula Youth Clinic
Peninsula Youth Clinic is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor. To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.
Foundry Youth Clinic
Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness services, with doctors, mental health workers, and peer support workers. Foundry is open for virtual and on-site appointments. To make an appointment, call 250-383-3552. Phones are answered beginning at 10:30AM on weekdays to schedule appointments for the day.
