GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Spartan Wear – Clothing Orders Due Feb. 23

Spartan Wear is on sale again!!  If you would like to buy a Claremont Spartan hoodie, shirt, sweat pants, or lanyard, please pick up an order form from the Accounting Office. All sales are pre-order only. Deadline for orders & payment is THIS TUESDAY February 23 to Ms. Marshall in the Accounting office. Estimated time for clothing to arrive at Claremont is before Spring Break.

 

Pink Shirt Day – Feb.24

THIS WEDNESDAY Feb 24 is Pink Shirt Day. Please support Claremont's commitment to a bully-free environment by wearing and ‘thinking’ pink. By joining together and wearing pink, we can visibly show our support for a more inclusive, accepting and compassionate society. Practice kindness and wear pink to symbolize that you do not tolerate bullying.

 

2021-2022 Course Book

The digital Course Book for the 2021-2022 school year is posted on the Claremont website. Families can familiarize themselves with course offerings, specialty programs and pathways to graduation.

 

Course Selection Forms – Date Change: Feb. 23

Due to changes in how we can deliver presentations about courses to our current grade 9, 10, and 11 students, we need a few more days to prepare for the course selection process.  The course selection forms will now be handed out to our current students on TUESDAY, Feb. 23 in block 1

 

Mid-Morning Breaktime Food Service

Reminder that the Spartan Store is open every morning for breakfast and snack service 10:00-11:00, with reasonably-priced hot drinks and morning treats. Cash or lunch cards only.

Island Medical Program: Zoom Info Session – TONIGHT

Skills Canada Competition Week – Register by Feb.19

Show your skills, compete, and have fun by registering for Skills Canada Competition Week! 

There are Secondary (Grades 10-12) and Junior (Grades 6-9) competitions, based on tons of fun categories, like: Electronics, Culinary, Graphic Design, Hairstyling, Wind Turbines, Gear Bots, Public Speaking, Photography, Job Search, and more!  Competition Week: March 1-6. Students must be registered by TOMORROW (Friday) Feb.19th!  For more info or to register, see Mr. Bussoli.

 

First Aid Training – April 23

CRC Emergency First-Aid with CPR "C":   This will be blended learning: 4 hours online of fun and interactive learning, and 4.5 hours of in-class learning.  This course trains people how to react and improvise during life threatening emergencies. This is an early posting, but these courses fill up fast!  Cost is $50.

FRIDAY April 23, 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm in class.

There are so many virtual information sessions and events being offered by post-secondary institutions.  The Saanich School District has a Careers page that is full of good information about various training and post-secondary opportunities. For the most current details about many virtual events being provided by universities and other post-secondary schools, make sure to visit the Saanich School District Career Education website, at https://careered.sd63.bc.ca/.  This site is updated continually.

 

GRAD 2021

Grad 2021 Bottle Drive - Feb.27

Save your empties!!!  Grad 2021 is having a bottle drive fundraiser on SATURDAY Feb.27, 9:00am - 3:00pm.  Drop-off is in the Claremont student parking lot.  COVID protocols will be in place. Thank you for your support.

 

Student Transcript Service

Grade 12’s: Did you know that YOU can access your own transcripts from the Student Transcript Service website?  You can view your transcript and/or send them to a Post-Secondary Institution of your choice, at any time. It is easy to make a BCeID account on the Student Transcript Service.  Check out the information posters on the wall, just outside of the counselling office.  http://www.StudentTranscripts.gov.bc.ca

Cordova Bay Fastball

2021 Season registration is open now until March 15th for Cordova Bay Fastball. Open for U19 boys & girls ($175).  Registration is online: www.CordovaBayFastball.ca

 

Programs at the Upside Teen Centre (Saanich Commonwealth Place)

Reminder that there are FREE, registered drop-in style programs for older teens at the Upside Teen Centre.  Youth can pre-register online or in person!

Peninsula Youth Clinic

Peninsula Youth Clinic is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor.  To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.

 

Foundry Youth Clinic

Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness services, with doctors, mental health workers, and peer support workers. Foundry is open for virtual and on-site appointments. To make an appointment, call 250-383-3552. Phones are answered beginning at 10:30AM on weekdays to schedule appointments for the day.
