GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Green Shirt Day – TODAY

Today is Green Shirt Day. This is an awareness day about Organ Donation and celebrating the legacy of Logan Boulet, a young hockey player who was able to save 6 lives after the tragic Humboldt Broncos accident in 2018. Reminder that Ms Giordano will be in the student lounge TODAY at lunch with info on how you can be an organ donor. 

 

Course Drop Date – April 12

The last day to drop a Quarter 3 class, and not have it show up on your student transcript, is THIS MONDAY April 12.  Students can pick up a drop form from the counselling office, have it signed by a parent and the teacher, then bring the signed form to Mr. Pama or Ms. Giese.

 

Claremont Music Program: Spring Café

A pair of ice skates was left in the PE area before Spring Break.  If they are yours, please come to the office to claim them.

 

Mid-Morning Breaktime Food Service

Reminder that the Spartan Store is open every morning for breakfast and snack service 10:00-11:00, with reasonably-priced hot drinks and morning treats. Cash or lunch cards only.

Student Career Options Webinar: For Parents – April 15 & 20

WorkBC.ca is facilitating a one-hour interactive webinar to help parents and caregivers support youth as they explore career options. This virtual event is designed for parents of grade 9-12 students wanting to enhance their career coaching skills and gain exposure to WorkBC.ca tools to help with their youth’s career path. Webinars run on April 15 AND April 20. There are so many virtual information sessions and events being offered by post-secondary institutions.  The Saanich School District has a Careers page that is full of good information about various training and post-secondary opportunities. GRAD 2021

Magic Wand Project

Magic Wand Project is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. This is a chance to borrow, rather than buy, a dress, suit or tux, (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge). All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included. Any student is eligible.

Grad Package: Part 1 – Due April 13

Grade 12’s: planning is under way for your graduation. You should have received an email last week for your “Grad Package, Part 1.”  It is very important for you to complete this by next week, due TUESDAY April 13.  The link to complete the Grad Package is on the Grad Page of the Claremont website. You must be logged into your account on the Claremont Website to access this.

Part of the grad package asks for your important submissions to your virtual ceremony grad movie. Instructions for both submissions are on the Grad Page:

1)    Please write a message you want everyone to hear when your photo is shown in the Virtual Ceremony Grad Movie. 

2)    Please upload two photos of you (one as a baby/toddler and one of from middle school).


Grad Assembly – April 22

Grads, an essential Grad Assembly is going to be taking place on THURSDAY, April 22. More details to follow soon regarding about the time of the assembly.

 

District and School Scholarships

Did you know that Claremont grads are eligible for over $50,000 in scholarships?  Apply online at the Claremont Website.  All applications are due by April 23.  For more information, check out the Scholarships Handbook, the scholarships website, or see Ms. Tong in room 323.

 

Student Transcript Service

Grade 12’s: Did you know that YOU can access your own transcripts from the Student Transcript Service website?  You can view your transcript and/or send them to a Post-Secondary Institution of your choice, at any time. It is easy to make a BCeID account on the Student Transcript Service.  Check out the information posters on the wall, just outside of the counselling office.  http://www.StudentTranscripts.gov.bc.ca

Programs at the Upside Teen Centre (Saanich Commonwealth Place)

Reminder that there are FREE, registered drop-in style programs for older teens at the Upside Teen Centre.  Youth can pre-register online or in person!

Peninsula Youth Clinic

Peninsula Youth Clinic is operating through Telehealth on Thursday evenings 5:30 - 7:30pm Appointments with doctors or mental health workers are conducted by phone or video. Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone for any medical concerns, to get prescriptions, or to speak with a counsellor.  To make an appointment, call 250-656-4143.

 

Foundry Youth Clinic

Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers young people ages 12-24 health and wellness services, with doctors, mental health workers, and peer support workers. Foundry is open for virtual and on-site appointments. To make an appointment, call 250-383-3552. Phones are answered beginning at 10:30AM on weekdays to schedule appointments for the day.
