GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

“Gift Card of the Day” Contest

The “Gift Card of the Day” contest winner is…. RILEY ARSENAULT!!!  Congratulations!

 

Year-Long Drama: Dec. 9-11

Two more nights!!! The Year-Long Drama production of HUMBUG HIGH will be performing TONIGHT & SATURDAY at 7:30pm in-person and via Livestream. This modern high-school based adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is sure to please.  Featuring the talents of our student actors and technicians, this play will put you in the spirit for Christmas!  Masks are required. Tickets are $10 at the door. Link for livestream tickets is HERE.  Donate a non-perishable food item at the door and save $1 per item (maximum 5 items).

 

Music Concerts

Are you ready to enjoy some seasonal music?  Claremont Music concerts are well underway:

Dec.13: the Greater Victoria Concert Band joins the Claremont Concert Bands.

Dec.16: the Claremont Jazz Bands perform on their own.

These concerts will be recorded and the digital link will be shared on December 17th.


Robotics Tournament

The Claremont Robotics Teams are competing in the Shawnigan Lake Robotics Tournament this weekend against other teams from Vancouver Island.  Good luck at your first in-person competition in over two years!!!


Lost & Found

In the Lost & Found today: a cell phone (that was left on bus #15 on Wednesday), a digital watch, an analog watch, a pair of eyeglasses, and a winter jacket. Please come to the office to claim them.


Semester 1 Drop Date – Dec.17

The last date to drop a class and not have it show up on your transcript is FRIDAY Dec.17th.  Students must fill out a drop form (they are available in the counselling office or Mrs Watson’s office) and have it signed by a parent and teacher first. THEN they can then bring the signed sheet in person to Mr. Pama or Ms Giese to make the drop happen.

Spirit Club: Holiday Themes Next Week

Let’s get festive!  Claremont’s Spirit Club has some fun festive themes every day next week to get us ready for the holiday season.

MONDAY is Hat Day!  Keep your heads warm with Santa hats, elf hats and cozy toques.

TUESDAY is Turtleneck Day!

WEDNESDAY is Ugly Sweater Day!

THURSDAY is Red & Green Day!

FRIDAY is Cozy/Pyjamas Day!  Also Pancake Breakfast and Staff Skits!! (Revised class schedule coming soon).

 

Key Club: Locker Wrapping, Dec 1-10

TODAY is the final day!  Key Club is doing their annual Christmas locker wrapping!   For $2, get someone’s locker wrapped with festive wrapping paper!  Final sales will take place TODAY at lunch in the student lounge.

 

YCI:  Winter Backpack Supply Drive – Until Dec.10

YCI's “Home is Where the Heart Is” backpack and supply drive is finishing up TODAY. We are collecting non- perishable snacks, hats, gloves, socks, toiletries and backpacks for homeless youth in the Victoria area. Bins are beside the main entrance.  Thank you!!

Saanich Schools International Student Program is looking for new host families for our International student who will be joining us in February 2022, as well as host families who would like to be available on short notice for students currently here.  This can be a wonderful opportunity to make life-long friendships and share the beauty of your home and community.  Host families receive a generous monthly allowance of $975 to offset expenses.

Grad Photos: Update from Lifetouch

Lifetouch is experiencing significant shipping/delivery delays due to the flooding and travel restrictions across the province. 

If you are waiting for proofs, and you want to view or order your photos:  log into www.mylifetouch.ca and use your student number for access. If students/parents need to check on their order, please phone Customer Care at 1-888-676-1647 or use the chat feature on the mylifetouch.ca website.  Hopefully the travel and delivery services will return to normal soon.  Lifetouch thanks you in advance for your understanding and patience.

Job Opportunity

If you would like to try your hand at being a Minor Test Shopper, apply for VIHA's part-time job in Tobacco & Vapour Prevention and Control.  $17/hour, various retail locations. Want to try your hands at Plumbing?

Are you interested in learning some basic plumbing? Thinking of a career in Plumbing or Pipe Fitting?  Want to try it out for 1/2 a day here at Claremont?  A cool and amazing opportunity is coming here!!  The Camosun Plumbing & Pipe Fitting Trailer is making its tour here on Monday Dec 13th.  If interested, (I know some of you are), come see Mr. Bussoli in Room 217 at lunch to find out more info and sign up.  Spots are filling up fast!!

 

Student Trainee - Construction Project Management Opportunity

Architecture49 and WSP Canada have 10 openings available for individuals of the Pauquachin, Tseycum, Tsartlip, Tsawout or Malahat First Nations who are interested in hands-on training in the fields of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, or Engineering. Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at 2379 Bevan Avenue in Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30-7:30pm for help with any medical concern (physical, mental, and sexual health). Call 250-656-4143 to make an appointment with a physician or counsellor.  Services are 100% free, confidential, and explicitly inclusive of all genders and sexualities!
