GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Unicef Boxes & Food Drive
Help children all over the world! Please donate spare change from now until Halloween into the UNICEF boxes found in all classrooms. Every little bit can add up!

The Free the Children group is also helping to take on this issue of hunger in our communities by holding an IN CLASS Block 2 can drive. This can drive will be a competition between all classes to see which class can donate the most cans. The prize is a pizza lunch and all the donated cans will go to the local food bank.

Free the Children
For the members of Free the Children: there will be a meeting TODAY at lunch in room 264.

Coffee & Bake Sale
The IGS students will be selling Level Ground coffee, tea and baked goods all this week before school and at lunch in the lounge to raise funds for their train trip to Ottawa.  Get your caffeine fix, feed your sweet tooth, and support a good cause. Discounts to all students who bring their own mugs.

Math Club meeting
There is a math club meeting TODAY at lunch in Room 133.  New members are always welcome.

Grade 9 Movie Night
Grade 9's:  On TUESDAY night October 28th, Grad Council is hosting a Ghost Buster movie night! Admittance will be free and drinks and treats will be for sale.  Doors open at 7pm.  Bring your friends!  This event is open to grade 9's only.

Blackout Dance
Tickets for Thursday night's BLACKOUT DANCE are on sale TODAY at lunch outside the theatre for only $5.  Wear all black and come ready to bust a move.

This week's food services at lunch will be:

School Photos
School photos and student ID cards are being handed out this week. TODAY, the grade 11's and 12's will be receiving their photos and ID cards.  TOMORROW, the grade 9's and 10's will receive theirs.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Halloween Week
Halloween is coming and Student Government has some fun lunchtime events planned for the whole week. Come join the fun each day, or just come to watch.
TODAY - Come watch the “Thriller” video today at lunch in the theatre.
TUESDAY – is “Black & Orange” Day.  Dress up in those colours. No hats please.
WEDNESDAY - Come check out the Pie Eating Contest at lunch in the lounge.
THURSDAY - Come be a part of the Mummy Wrap contest at lunch in the lounge.
FRIDAY – There will be a Costume Contest at lunch in the Big Gym. Everyone can enter the contest! Just show up and join in.

ATHLETICS
Junior Boys Soccer
Attention Jr Boys soccer players: there will be a brief meeting TODAY at the beginning of lunch in Room 264 to organize rides for our game versus Spectrum after school. Please see Mr. Mitchell if you cannot attend.

Swim Team meeting
For Swim Team members who are not in the CSI program: there is a brief meeting on TUESDAY Oct. 28th at lunch in the small gym for a brief meeting about the Island Championships on Nov. 2nd.

Cross Country
Congratulations to both the boys and girls cross country teams, as they have each qualified for the Provincial championships. The girls finished 4th on the Island and will be represented by Ashley Cathro, Sarah Hall, Kamilla Hoggan, Elysse Pereira and May Wang.  The boys team finished 2nd on the island and will be represented by Hamish Babin, Roberto Fedrigo, Brennen Smith, Phil Vellacott, Jordan Hopkins, Angus Brown, and Brian Ni.  Great job teams and good luck at BC's!

Senior Girls volleyball results
The senior girls volleyball team had 4 wins and 2 losses at the Dover Bay Tournament this past weekend to finish top 6 in the tournament.  Claremont hosts the Lower Island Championships for Senior Girls volleyball this Saturday.  Spectators and supporters are more than welcome.
