GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Remembrance Day
During World War 1, Flanders (a part of Belgium) became known as the most devastated battlefield. Homes. Gone. Farms. Gone. Buildings, roads, natural life – all disappeared. It became a graveyard for the dead even though men still lived and fought there. Within the muddy sea, one thing survived...the poppy. Each year, the poppy flowered, which gave hope, reassurance and colour to those who were still fighting.  'Til this day, we remember those who lie beneath the Flanders fields and honour them by wearing a red poppy.

This THURSDAY, we will honour Remembrance Day at our school.  Please bring a twoonie for a poppy on that day in support of the Royal Canadian Legion.
