Motivational Day
Youth for Change and Inclusion is hosting a free "Motivational Day" next FRIDAY Oct 23 from 8:30-3:30, with speakers, activities and food at Mount Doug. The day is designed to expose teenagers to topics like social activism using art, and mental health and homelessness in Victoria. There will be opportunities to see how you can get involved in these issues at school and in your community. Look for posters around the school; you can also ask Ms Gaudet or Ms G-C about this event, and you can register for the event on eventbrite.ca
School Bus Passes
If you have registered to ride the school bus, most of the bus passes have arrived. Please come to the office to pick them up.
Starve a Vampire......Give Blood
The first blood drive appointments are available on TUESDAY Oct 27th at the Saanich Road site.
Students must be 17yrs old. Sign up at lunch in student lounge or see Ms Chapman, room 136.
School Photos
If students missed picking up their school photos in House Block last week, the photos can be picked up in the office. Photo Retake Day is Wednesday Oct 21.

All Basketball players - please pay attention to MONDAY's announcements for tryout dates for next week for all teams.
Junior boys soccer team: Congrats on their win yesterday over St Andrews 4-0. With that win, the boys have qualified for the quarter finals next week at Mt Doug.
Junior girls and senior boys volleyball teams: good luck as they head into tournament play TODAY and SATURDAY.

First Aid Course
'ALERT' Emergency First Aid Training with CPR and AED - this course is being offered on Thursday, November 12 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney (this is a Pro-D day). Cost is $50 payable, in cash, cheque or credit card. More information in Career Centre.
House of Commons Page Program
Planning to start university next year? Do you speak both official languages? Are you interested in the work of Parliament? Become a House of Commons Page! Pages are contracted to work at the House of Commons for one year, beginning in late-August 2016. Their work schedule is a minimum of 15 hours per week that will be coordinated with their university schedule! Get paid to watch all the action and aid in the processes on Parliament Hill in Ottawa! An overall academic average of 80% is required. Application deadline for the 2016/2017 HOC Page Program is Monday, December 7, 2015. Please see Mrs. Rhodes in the Career Office for more information!

Volunteer Opportunity
Help out at Victoria's newest Corn Maze!! Pendray Farms is looking for volunteers to help at the corn maze during all of October. Grads: Lifetouch has their portable studio at Claremont until October 22 to take your grad photos. You need to book your appointment NOW by going onto the Lifetouch website: www.lifetouch.ca/victoria. Photo brochures are available in the office. Don’t put this off, because the appointments book up quickly!
