Peer Tutors have their final meeting TODAY at lunch in the Learning Commons.  See you there!

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Lost

A silver ring was lost in the school.  It looks like two rowing oars with the blades touching.  The ring belongs to one of our CSI rowers, and it has very special meaning to her.  If you have found the ring, please help her out and return it to the office.

Planning Online 2016/17
Would all students who have signed up for Planning Online next year please see Mrs. Marshall in office 336 before the end of the year to receive instructions on how to get started over the summer.

Yearbooks
Yearbooks will be handed out next week: MONDAY afternoon for grade 12's and TUESDAY afternoon for grade 9-11's.  If you want to know if you have already paid for a yearbook, there will be an information table set up in the lounge at lunch time all this week.

Report cards
There will be a home room on THURSDAY June 30th from 9:00-10:00 for students to pick up report cards. Please make every effort to be there.  Report cards will not be mailed home.

Spartan Wear
The Spartan Store is having a year-end sale. This week only, sweat pants and hoodie tops will be 50% off. This is your last chance to purchase any school gear this year

NYC at Spring Break 2017
If you are interested in a Spring Break 2017 trip to New York City (the big apple!) come to a lunch meeting this FRIDAY in the theatre.   This trip is a chance of a lifetime and we'll even try to see HAMILTON!   This trip is open to all Claremont students and parents. See Mr. Plant for more details if you cannot make it.  For parents, please feel free to email cplant@sd63.bc.ca for more info.

Europe 2017
3 spots remain on a trip to Vimy Ridge for the 100th Anniversary next April.  Amsterdam, Normandy and Paris are included in the adventure.  Prices go up July 1st. Contact Mr Gardner for details. dgardner@sd63.bc.ca

Student Data & Year End Procedure
Good morning.  Due to storage space issues on school computer servers, we are going to have to return to the practice of deleting all data on student home folders at the end of each year.  If students have any data that they want to keep that is currently stored on the school servers, they must copy the files to their own devices by June 29, 2016.  The data will be deleted at that point in time.

Bake Sale Today
The music department will be having a bake sale TODAY at lunch outside of the lounge.  There will be baking, chips and drinks available for sale.  Thank you for supporting the music department.

Ice Cream Floats Today
The Welcomers Club will be selling ice cream floats outside of the Student Lounge TODAY at lunch. All proceeds will be going to the Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Society.

Bake Sale Friday
This FRIDAY June 17th, there will be a bake sale at lunch outside of the lounge.  Bring your sweet tooth and some loonies and toonies.  The money raised is going to Pencils of Promise, a global movement that helps build schools and help kids access education in poor countries.  Please help give kids equal opportunity for a good education.

ATHLETICS

Beach Volleyball

Congratulations the volleyball players who represented Claremont at Island Championships in Beach Volleyball in Parksville where there were over 150 teams.  Gerry Peng and Caelan Smith won a silver medal in the Jr. Boys category.  Josh Phillips and Trevor Copp were Bronze Medallists, and Ayden Ryan and Carter Cooper placed 7th out of 16 teams.

Track & Field
Can all track and field athletes please return your uniforms to Ms. Giese ASAP.

Athletics Awards
Did you play on a school sports team this year?  If so, than you should attend the Athletics Awards on TUESDAY June 21st (4:00-5:45pm) in the theatre. All of Claremont's 30+ teams will be recognized and many awards will be handed out. Your coaches will have more information for you.  Tickets are $10 and include pizza and a T-Shirt. They will be sold at lunch in the Spartan Store.

CAREER CENTRE
Free Employment Training

If you are:  Between 17 and 30,  not continuing in school, not EI eligible, experiencing difficulties finding a job, and/or wanting extra support and ongoing mentorship, then consider BladeRunners Employment Program!  Receive two weeks of certificates and workshops, followed by supported job search to get you working and ongoing mentorship.  Training is offered in Hospitality/Retail and Construction areas.  Visit the Career Centre for more details!

Packaging Clerk required at the Red Barn Market on Vanalman Avenue.  Requires current Food Safe Level 1 certification; availability in the evenings, weekends and weekdays; Physically demanding; Ability to work alone as well as with a team;  Ability to manage time effectively.  Find out more about this job opportunity in the Career Centre.

Free Retail Training
This certificate program prepares you for first time work experiences in retail and many other work environments. You will be treated as an employee and you will be working alongside a busy team of staff members. You will have training in:  Working a cash register and counting cash - Customer service - Creating displays - Sorting inventory - Assisting with pricing - Opening & closing procedures.  Please visit the Career Centre for more information.

GRAD 2016
Banquet Table Sign-up
Grads: Make sure you sign up you and your group of friends for seating at the grad banquet.  TODAY and TOMORROW at lunch only,  go to Mme. Harte’s Room (room 303) with a written list of up to 12 people (first and last names) who wish to sit together at a table.  Sign up list sheets are available in the office.    If you don’t sign up by the end of lunch on Thursday, tables will be assigned for you.

Slide Show Photos
Grads: Mrs Martin is getting worried in the office.  There are still LOTS LOTS LOTS of childhood photos of you in the office, waiting to be picked up, and she promised many parents that they would be returned to you and your photo albums.  Please come by to pick them up.

Dry Grad
Graduation is fast approaching and the parents involved in the Dry Grad Committee are working hard to make the night a success.  We’d like to take this opportunity to reach out and ask for parent help and support.  If you haven’t already done so we encourage you to click on our volunteer sign-up link; you will see time slots for all kinds of jobs – consider coming as a team; dad can help set up while mom helps decorate!  We encourage all parents, guardians and extended family members to help out wherever possible.

As a fund-raising initiative, we have Thrifty Food cards; which are available at the school office.  If you own or operate a business or know of someone who would like to make a corporate donation of either products or services, please contact us - we welcome and appreciate your generosity.  If you would like to make a cash donation, please note that 100% of all donations will be applied to prizes for the grads.  Cheques may be made payable to ‘Claremont Grad All Nite’ and left at the school office.
