GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Remembrance Day Assemblies

This THURSDAY, Claremont will dedicate blocks 1 and 2 for our Remembrance Day assemblies, to honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women who served our country, and those who continue to serve, in order to preserve our Canadian values and freedoms.  Thank you to the men and women of our Canadian military: the soldiers, medics, equipment technicians, pilots, support staff and peacekeepers.

Participants in the Assemblies
Reminder to ALL students who are participating in our Remembrance Day assemblies, there will be a mandatory dress rehearsal in the theatre on THURSDAY at 8:00AM.  See Mr. Westhaver or Mrs. Wadsworth for more info.

Poppies
It has been 101 years since Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae wrote his poem, “In Flanders Fields,” sharing the phenomenon worldwide of poppies growing amoung the dead laying in war-torn fields, and over the graves of soldiers. Wearing a Poppy has since become a visual symbol and reminder of honour and ultimate sacrifice of our veterans.

The Royal Canadian Legion has kindly provided poppies for every member of our school. You may not know that, through donations to the Legion Poppy Fund, essential financial assistance, support, medical equipment, and training programs are provided to veterans and their families.  We encourage all students and staff at Claremont to proudly wear a Poppy, and plan to make a donation (we suggest a Loonie or Twonie)  to the Legion Poppy Fund before our assembly.
