Block 2 Skating Trip Today

Reminder to Ms Harris and Ms Taylor's block 2 girls PE classes: your bus leaves at the start of block 2 to the skating rink. Please head out to the bus right away.

Voice and Jazz Band Performers
Reminder to Voice and Jazz Band students participating at the Victoria Public Library performance TODAY. Meet in the choir room at 11:40. 

Mary Poppins in Vancouver
Super-cali-fragilistic-expi-ali-docious! Now that we have your attention, Mr. Plant wants to let you know there are a few extra tickets available for the Musical Theatre field trip this SATURDAY to Vancouver to see... Block 2 Xmas Door Decorating Challenge
Ho-ho-ho! The Claremont annual Block 2 Xmas Door Decorating Challenge is on!!  Get out your baubles and trimmings and lights and let your creativity flow!  Will Ms. Tong's class win AGAIN?  Judging takes place on TUESDAY Dec. 13th, then pizza lunches will be provided to the 1st and 2nd place block 2 winners on WEDNESDAY Dec.14th!!  Good luck, and may the best doors win!

GEO 100
All students registering for Geo100: please make sure you are registered and get your forms in to Mr Gardner or Mr Pama as soon as possible.  If you are interested in taking this dual credit course next semester or have any questions, see Mr Gardner or Mr Pama as soon as possible.

'TIS THE SEASON OF GIVING
Toys For Teens – Claremont Edition

In order to support those in need this Christmas, Student Government is asking Claremont students to donate gift cards for teenagers. Please bring in a $10 or more gift card to your Block 1 class and give it to the teacher.  When thinking of a type of gift card, please think of a place where teenagers would appreciate getting such a gift card.  Whichever class raises the most value on their gift cards will win and get a chance to appear on the Zone 91.3 Toy Drive show on Friday, Dec 16th in Block 1 and make the donation on behalf of the school.  Please bring in a gift card to your block 1 class!  

“10,000 Tonight” Event
On THURSDAY, December 15th from 5:30 to 8:30pm Claremont students, parents, alumni and teachers will be going out into different parts of the community to collect canned foods and non-perishable food items to give back to the less fortunate. We hope to see you participate in this important event and show our community you care. To join “10,000 Tonight”, come to the lounge any day at lunch time and sign up. See Mr. Plant or a Senior Leadership student for more info.

Warm Clothing Drive
This is YCI's second year of collecting warm clothing for youth. If you are able to donate, these clothes will go to the 'Out of the Rain' shelter for youth, and are much appreciated this time of year!! The collection box is outside the theatre.

CLUBS
Knitters Fundraiser - Popcorn

The Knitters for Charity Club will be selling Kernels Popcorn TODAY at lunch in the student lounge.  Individual packages of white cheese, creamy caramel, and butter/salt popcorn will be sold for $2. All proceeds will be donated to a clothing drive to support Victoria's homeless this winter.

Best Buddies – Important Change
Important change:  Best Buddies will meet on MONDAY.  Peer buddies interested in Butchart Gardens for the afternoon only, please see Mrs. Stetson as soon as possible. 

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Festive Events – Holiday Week

Get ready, everyone.... Student Government has festive events planned for next week, the last week of school before the break.
Candy Grams will be sold MONDAY thru THURSDAY at lunch in the student lounge.  $1 each.  Send a sweet thought to your friends. Proceeds will go to the Zone 91.3 Toy Drive.

MONDAY – Come watch the movie, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at lunch in the theatre.
TUESDAY – Lip Sync Battle: Holiday Edition, at lunch in the theatre.  Sign-up is on the theatre door.
WEDNESDAY – Ugly Sweater contest at lunch in the student lounge. Bring on those tacky sweaters!
THURSDAY – 'Human Christmas Tree' contest at lunch in the student lounge.
FRIDAY – Santa Hat Day: wear a Santa hat, elf hat, or reindeer antlers!
FRIDAY – Candy Grams will be delivered!!!

CAREER CENTRE
Auto Tech Program

Do you love cars?  Enjoy working with your hands?  Consider the AutoTech program being offered in February through the Victoria School District and Camosun!  Participate in 13 weeks of instruction at Esquimalt High School and  7 weeks at Camosun.  Earn 28 credits, and 100 hours of Work Experience.   Limited space is still available. See Mr. Arsenault or Mrs. Rhodes in the Career Centre for more information.

Trades Exploration Program
Last chance to sign up for the Claremont Trades Exploration program for February 2017!   Do  you like working with your hands? Are you interested in learning more about different Trades options?  Consider applying for the TEX Program!  Earn 24 Credits, plus Work Experience 12A and 12B.  Program runs from February to June 2017.  See Mr. Arsenault as soon as possible in the Career Centre.
