GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Bell Schedule Change After Spring Break

All students and staff should note that the bell schedule will be changing slightly after Spring Break. This will affect the start time for Blocks 2 and 3 by a few minutes. Please see the new schedule posted in classrooms and around the school. It will also be posted on the Claremont Website.

Math Contests
Sign-up sheets are now posted in the math wing for all the contests coming up in April, including the Euclid. Please sign up soon.  Deadline for the school to register is March 21.

Souper Kids
This Wednesday's session of Souper Kids is cancelled.  Stay tuned for a new date.

Fine Arts Night
Fine Arts Night is this THURSDAY March 16.  Come see what amazing things students have been doing in our Fine Arts programs: music, dance, theatre and visual arts.  $5 at the door.

Volunteer Opportunity
Volunteers are needed for the Dueling Over a Grand Rowing Regatta on April 1 and 2. This is an opportunity for junior rowers who are not participating in this regatta, and other interested students.  Boat holders are required for several shifts; this involves sitting on a platform at the start line keeping the boats in place until the race begins.  The platforms are large enough to hold 2 people if you want to sign up with a friend.  Contact Patricia Wall at vcrcvolunteers@gmail.com.

New Sign Language Club

A new Sign Language Club has started at Claremont. If you are interested in learning sign language, come to our first meeting TODAY at lunch in room 320.

Claremont's Got Talent

Claremont's Got Talent is coming up at the end of April: April 25-28.  Please sign up on the theatre door, on your own, with a friend, or with a group.  Show Claremont that you've got talent!!

Coast Capital Savings "Youth Get It" Intern Program is now accepting applications. This part-time work opportunity will give you experience in leadership, community relations, teamwork and financial literacy.  To apply, visit the Career Centre to pick up an information form. Application deadline March 31st 2017.

The Victoria Flying Club is looking to hire workers to clean planes! 

Garden/yard work opportunities: a variety of short and long term jobs are available in the Sidney North Saanich area. 

Students who signed up for the Elections BC: Youth at the Booth employment opportunity but HAVE NOT yet been given an application form can now pick one up  from the Career Centre.  All students applying for Youth at the Booth: please hand in your completed applications to Mrs. Rhodes in the Career Centre.

Volunteer Opportunities
Easter Egg Hunt at Beaver Lake Park, Saturday, April 15th, from 8 am - 2 pm. 15-20 student volunteers are needed for this annual family event -  including face painting, cake decorating and perhaps wearing a bunny costume! 

Sidney & Peninsula Literary Festival, at the Shoal Centre, this FRIDAY March 17th, 6:30-9:30 pm, needs 3 volunteers to help with tickets, welcome people at the door, assist with new memberships and oversee coffee table break. 

Preparing and serving tea/coffee and treats at the Central Saanich Senior Citizen Association 'Sunday Special' in Brentwood Bay - last Sunday of the month from March to June - 1 to 4 pm. 

FREE Tax Return Preparation
Tax season is here!  Need help preparing your tax return?  Students can have their income tax prepared for FREE  by a qualified volunteer at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney.  To find out more or get more information about what students need to know at tax time, visit the Career Centre.

GRAD 2017
Scholarships Meeting

Attention grade 12's..... there is an important meeting on THURSDAY March 16 at lunch in the theatre, with lots of information regarding scholarships. The deadline for most scholarship applications is fast approaching. This includes the 40 scholarships specifically designated to Claremont students. These scholarships represent a variety of focus areas (ie. Fine Arts, Sports, Applied Skills, etc). If you want the $1250, you need to apply!

Dry Grad Fundraiser – Easter Message Sticks
Easter message sticks are on sale.  These are a colourful special touch to any Easter bouquet or potted plant and are made by our student, Braiden, on his very own 3D printer.  They are $4 each and come in seven fun styles.  Samples and order forms are in the office. Orders will be filled in time for Easter.

Grad Transition
Grad Transition submission deadline is this FRIDAY, March 17th!  After this date, students who have not submitted their GT will be scheduled in for a formal interview on Tuesday, April 11th. Please note: a written resume + all GT forms will also be required at that time. Get your GT forms from the Career Centre.
