GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Claremont Reads

Congratulations to Talia Shortt - last month's Claremont Reads winner. Please come to the Learning Commons to claim your prize.

Musical Theatre Presents “Cinderella”
Claremont's Musical Theatre program presents Rogers and Hammerstein's “Cinderella”.  Tickets are now on sale through Mrs. Marshall in the accounting office; call 250-658-6672.  7pm shows run May 10-13 and May 17-20. Additional 2pm matinees on May 13 & May 20.  $15 Adults / $12.50 for Students/Seniors / $10 for Children 12 and under.  Open seating. Plan early; this show is sure to sell out!!

Book Drive
The book drive continues from now until June 15th and is coordinated by the Victoria City Police Youth Council/Youth for Change and Inclusion. All books will help build a library for a downtown outreach program to support people struggling with homelessness.  Books will ideally be suitable for ages 18-30.  They can be dropped off  at the school office.   Questions can be directed to Nathan at: ycilibrarian@gmail.com

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
1st Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Claremont's Jr. Leadership and Student Government are organizing an Easter Egg hunt TOMORROW (Thursday)  at lunch!  Hundreds of small chocolate eggs will be hidden just before LUNCH all around the school inside and outside and their will also be larger plastic eggs to be found which will contain a special message telling you how to get a special prize.  Get egg-cited Claremont!

Claremont's Got Talent
Claremont's Got Talent is coming up: April 25-28.  Please sign up on the theatre door, on your own, with a friend, or with a group.  Show Claremont that you've got talent!!

ATHLETICS
Ultimate Frisbee Club Team

Claremont is starting an Ultimate Frisbee Club Team.  No experience necessary!  It is co-ed and multi-grade so everyone is welcome.  Ultimate Frisbee is an exciting game that is active and social.  There will be one practice each week with opportunities to play other schools.  Everyone makes a team and everyone plays! Sign-up is THURSDAY at lunch in the small gym.  Please see Mr. Ryan.

Junior Girls Soccer
Congratulations team! Great game against Stelly's last night. Reminder: there is a brief meeting TODAY at lunch in room 303. See you there!

CAREER CENTRE
Training – Face Painting
There will be a free Professional Face Painting Workshop at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney on Saturday June 3rd.  Learn how the professionals do it!  Find out more in the Career Centre.

OSEF Student Exchanges
If you would like to live and go to school for 11-weeks in France, Belgium or Spain next year, please see Mrs. Rhodes in the Career Centre for application information.  Application deadlines are looming for OSEF 2017-2018 exchange programs!

Airlines are facing one of the most severe pilot shortages ever!  In fact, thousands of civilian pilots are needed in the next few years to meet the airlines' demands for pilots!   Come find out about how to become a commercial pilot from a current Air Canada pilot, TOMORROW (Thursday) at lunch in the Career Centre,

GRAD 2017
Scholarships

District Scholarship applications are due on FRIDAY April 21. Grade 12's hoping to win one of the 41 $1250 awards designated to Claremont need to get their application in by this deadline. This also includes applications for the: Ed Kubek, Joy Paquin, Coast Capital, CFUW, Marilyn Pinder, Fruit Growers and Helen White awards.
Remember the application includes a yellow sheet from the office, resume,reference letter, application letter and transcript for EACH award.  See Mr Ohl in the main office in block 3/4 if you have questions. Applications can be dropped off any time in the main office.

Mandatory Grad Assembly
All grade 12's are required to attend a grad assembly next week on TUESDAY April 18 in block 2.  This assembly will provide all details about graduation: how to know if you are eligible to cross the stage, criteria for completion of courses at SIDES or ILC, grad ceremony, grad dinner/dance, All Nite Dry Grad, how to get tickets, deadlines, and all of the necessary paperwork.  If you have a spare or if you are not usually at Claremont for block 2, it is essential that you make arrangements to attend this important assembly.
