GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Morning Coffee - IGS 12 Fundraiser

The IGS 12 class is brewing up coffee at the “Global Cafe” in room 264 each morning from 7:30-9:00.  Delicious Level Ground espresso drinks and drip coffee are available, including flavour shots!  Espresso/Lattes $2.50 / Drip $1.50. Cash only please. Come by for a morning treat and help support the IGS trip to Haida Gwaii at the same time! 
Note:  the IGS student will be away on the Haida Gwaii trip all next week, so the brewing of coffee will be suspended during their time away (Monday May 15 – Monday May 22).  Coffee is back on starting Tuesday May 23.

Musical Theatre Presents “Cinderella”
Claremont's Musical Theatre program presents Rogers and Hammerstein's “Cinderella”. Tickets are on sale through Mrs. Marshall in the accounting office; call 250-658-6672.  7pm shows run May 10-13 and May 17-20. Additional 2pm matinees on May 13 & May 20.  $15 Adults / $12.50 for Students/Seniors / $10 for Children 12 and under.  Open seating. Plan early; this show is sure to sell out!!

Book Drive
Thank you for the great donations so far! The book drive continues from now until June 15th and is coordinated by the Victoria City Police Youth Council/Youth for Change and Inclusion. All books will help build a library for a downtown outreach program to support people struggling with homelessness.  Books will ideally be suitable for ages 18-30.  They can be dropped off  at the school office.   Questions can be directed to Nathan at: ycilibrarian@gmail.com

Good luck to the boys rugby teams today! The Seniors are playing Edward Milne for the "Community Bowl", and the Juuniors are playing Oak Bay for the "City Championship". Go Spartans!

Volunteer Opportunity

Brentwood Festival, Pioneer Park Saturday June 3rd 9:00-3:00.  If you are you crafty or looking to work with children in the future, The Brentwood Festival needs you! We will be face painting and “crafting” with kids.   4 Volunteers needed. Visit the Career Centre for more info!

Job Opportunities
A local resident (Searidge Drive)  is looking for gardening help a couple of hours per week.  Will pay $20.00 per hour, to a reliable student, for a Summer work commitment.  Visit the Career Centre for contact info.

A local resident (Alderly Road) is looking for part-time yard work help.!  Stop by the Career Centre for contact information.

There are many different short and long-term job opportunities in the Sidney /North Saanich communities. Choose from light housework, to yard and garden help.  Wages range from 12  - $15.00 per hour.  Come check it out in the Career Centre!

Technologies Exploration Course - TEAC 105
Grades 10 to 12: There are still seats available for the September 2017 Camosun South Island Partnership (SIP) TEAC 105 Course!  This course provides an introduction to careers and basic skills in Computer Science, Electronic & Computer Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology.  This 4-credit course runs Fridays from 3:30- 6:30 at the Camosun Interurban Campus for 12 weeks. You have only the cost of books and the application fee!  Visit the Career Centre for more information and application packages. 

GRAD 2017
All Night Dry Grad

Reminder that the Dry Grad tickets ($75) need to be purchased online by going to Eventbrite.ca and searching for Claremont Dry Grad 2017.  We have an amazing all-night event planned for our Grads!  Information about the event can be found on the school website by clicking 'Parents' and then 'All Night Dry Grad'.  Details were in your Grad Package as well.  If you have any questions, please email claremontdrygrad@gmail.com

Scholarships
Attention grade 12's.... there are a number of new scholarships listed on the school website's "Scholarship Page".  These include our own PAC awards, as well as a number of others. Many are closing in the next 2 weeks. Grade 12's are encouraged to take a look. Only those who apply will be eligible!

UVic Registration 101 Visit
Students planning to attend UVic this Fall:  there will be a Registration 101 presentation next week on Wednesday May 17 after school in the Learning Commons.  This is open to all students who are already registered, as well as those who have yet to apply.

Parent/Guardian Volunteers needed at Dry Grad
Many hands are needed to make Dry Grad 2017 a fun and memorable night for our Grads!  There are many different jobs to sign up for; Decorating, Security, Casino, Clothing Collection, Clothing Transfer, Coat Check, Supervision, Carnival Game Set-up (muscles!), Carnival Game Assistants, Prize Table, and lots for Clean Up.  Sign up online by going to Claremont's website, click on 'Parents', then 'All Night Dry Grad', then 'Volunteers', then 'Volunteer Sign Up'.  It's lots of fun! Feel free to sign up for more than 1 job if the times don't overlap and encourage a friend to sign up with you!
