GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Breakfast Service at Claremont

The Spartan Store is serving hot breakfast and drinks, starting this week!. Come down between 8:15-8:45, TUESDAY to FRIDAY, and check out what we have to offer. Breakfast sandwiches, burritos, baked goods, smoothies and more.  All reasonably priced. You might be the lucky one to win a free breakfast item!

Five For The Fight – Tour de Rock Fundraiser
This is the last week for our Five for the Fight campaign. Bring in your $5 donation to Block 1 or make a donation at the front office. Fund-raising will end on Spartan Day (FRIDAY Oct. 6). Let's reach our school goal of $5000 for the Tour de Rock, who raise money for Camp Good Times for children fighting cancer.

Global Cafe
The Global Cafe is running every morning until 9:00 in the IGS room 264.  $2/coffee, includes milk/sugar.  This is a fund-raiser for the IGS program.

CLUBS
Claremont Clubs Showcase

There will be a Clubs Showcase TODAY at lunch in the Learning Commons.  Come by to meet students and staff who are involved in a great variety of school-based clubs.  Learn what the clubs are about and discover many ways you can become involved at our school. 

ATHLETICS
Field Hockey

Field Hockey practice is TODAY after school at Lochside turf.  Please get changed quickly  so you do not miss your ride down to the turf.  We have a game vs GNS this WEDNESDAY, Oct  4 at UVic; you will need to be out of class at 2:30 pm.

Curling
For all students who attended the first Curling meeting: there will be a meeting TOMORROW (Wednesday) at lunch in Room 312  We will be handing out field trip forms and explaining our plans for tryouts.  All interested students must attend or see Mr. Hayes or Mr. Freeburn ASAP.

CAREER CENTRE
Volunteer Opportunity – Halloween Fun

Lochside Elementary is having its annual Halloween Dance on Thursday October 19th and they are looking for 15-20 Claremont students to volunteer and help out with various activities at the event. Interested students can sign up in the Career Centre.

University Visits – Oct 10th
A rep from Drexel University (Pennsylvania) is coming to Claremont on TUESDAY October 10th at 8:30 a.m. in the Student Lounge.
A rep from Queen's University (International Campus) is coming to Claremont on TUESDAY October 10th after school starting at 3:30 p.m. in the Student Lounge.

Operation: This IS You - Opportunities for Girls

The Achieve Anything Foundation has partnered with the Canadian Coast Guard and the Royal Canadian Navy to offer hands-on experience opportunities for girls!  These events hope to inspire more women in Aviation, Aerospace, Marine & Defence and other STEM (science, technology, engineering& math) fields.  The first event of the series is taking place October 14th.  Visit the Career Centre for more information on these opportunities!

GRAD 2018
Grad Portraits

Attention all grads: it is time to book your grad photos.  Lifetouch is bringing their portable photo studio to Claremont for a limited time, starting October 10th.  To book you appointment, please go to the Lifetouch website: www.lifetouch.ca/victoria.  Don't put this off until later, or all of the appointments will be booked up and you will run out of time.  Sitting fee of $25 is due at the time of your appointment.  Information brochures are available in the school office.  More details are on the Claremont Grad Page.

Dry Grad 2018
Calling all parents/guardians of graduating students!  Please come to a meeting in the Claremont Learning Commons on TUESDAY, Oct.10th at 7:00pm to hear about Dry Grad 2018.

Important Meeting Today
For all International students graduating from Claremont over the next 4 years: you must attend a very important meeting TODAY at lunch time in the Choir Room.  There is a new process with Immigration documents that you need to know about.

COMMUNITY NEWS
Peninsula Youth Health Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Health Clinic, is located at the Ocean Pier Medical Clinic, (#207-2537 Beacon Avenue in Sidney) every THURSDAY 6-8pm.  This clinic offers completely free and confidential service in the areas of physical, sexual, and mental health for youth.  Walk-ins are welcome. This Youth Clinic offers a judgement-free zone for all youth and is an LGBTQ safe space.  For more information, call or text 250-216-8389.
