GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Voice

Do you want to work with Victoria's Pentatonix? Come to the Choir Room TODAY at lunch to listen and sing with the Accapella group giving tips to sounding good.

Grade 9 Immunization Forms
Grades 9's – reminder to return your immunization forms to the office as soon as possible.

School Photos & I.D. Cards
There are still many school photos and I.D. cards waiting to be picked up from the office. 

Photo Retakes
Photo retake day will be this WEDNESDAY, October 18th  in block 1.  If you missed our first photo day, or if you want to get re-takes, next Wednesday is your day.  Photo order forms are available in the office. If you are getting retakes because you don't like your original photos, you must bring your complete photo package back to the photographer. All grades need a photo for student identification; this includes all grade 12's, even if  you are having grad photos taken too.

ScreamFest
This year Claremont is hosting the annual Halloween event, which has run for the last 2 years at ROMS. ScreamFest is an amazing event featuring a scary haunted walk, the famous Vortex Tunnel, lots of games and activities, music, food and prizes!  It will run over two nights: Thursday, Oct. 26th and Friday, Oct. 27th. (6:30-10:00pm both nights).  Tickets are $10 and will be on sale all this week in the accounting office.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT

CLUBS
Math Club

Math Club meets TODAY at lunch, but there is a room change.  We will be meeting in room 137 from now on -- NOT room 130.  Everyone is welcome.  Bring your lunch and a friend.  Today we will look at Pascal's Triangle.

Best Buddies
Best Buddies meet TODAY and every MONDAY at lunch in room 312.  We are actively looking for new members who are interested in supporting students with  developmental disabilities. See Mrs. Stetson for more information.

Vex Robotics
The next meeting for the Vex Robotics Club will be this WEDNESDAY at lunch in Room 133.

ATHLETICS
Boys Jr/Sr Basketball

Anyone interested in playing on the Boys Junior or Senior Basketball teams this year:  there will be an important meeting on TUESDAY at lunch in the big gym.

Girls Basketball
For all girls, all grades, looking to tryout for the Girls Basketball A teams this season: there will be Open Gym TODAY from 7-8:30 in the main gym.  See Mr Reisig if you have any questions.

Field Hockey
All field hockey players: we will have a meeting TODAY at the beginning of lunch in the small gym to sort out rides to the game at UVic this afternoon. Please see Mrs. Taylor if you cannot play.

Curling
Claremont Curlers:  Our second practice session will be TODAY at 4:30 for all students who have returned their forms.  Final team decisions will be made after this session, so please make every effort to attend!

CAREER CENTRE
Job Opportunities

Pets West in Broadmead Shopping Centre is hiring for an after school, part-time position!  This position would be ideal for a high-school student over 15, and will require lifting up to 40 lbs. 

Volunteer Opportunities
Please come to the Career Centre for info about these volunteer opportunity:

Halloween Dance and Party at Lochside Elementary is looking for lots of Claremont students to volunteer at their school on Thursday, October 19th from 5:30 – 8:30pm.  Volunteers will assist with the Cupcake Walk, assorted Halloween Midway Games and ticket sales.  All volunteers will receive a free pizza dinner & cupcake.

Grads: reminder to bring your sitting fee of $25 at the time of your photo appointment. The Lifetouch portable photo studio is parked out back of the school. Information brochures are available in the school office.

Peninsula Youth Health Clinic – New Hours

Important: Hours have changed - The Peninsula Youth Health Clinic is now open every Thursday from 5-7pm. Walk in's are welcome, but if you are interested in booking an appointment or would like more info, call the clinic at 250-656-4114.  Location: at the Ocean Pier Medical Clinic, (#207-2537 Beacon Avenue in Sidney)   This clinic offers completely free and confidential service in the areas of physical, sexual, and mental health for youth.  This Youth Clinic offers a judgement-free zone for all youth and is an LGBTQ safe space.
