GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Would the student who found the cell phone this morning and brought it to the office please come see Mrs Martin again.  The owner has left a reward for you.

Dropping a Semester 1 Class?
The last day for students to drop a semester 1 course is FRIDAY December 22nd.  Forms are available in the Career Centre.  After Dec. 22, students will not be allowed to drop a Semester 1 class.

A Midsummer Night's Dream – Final Week
This is the final week to watch Block 3 Year-Long Drama's “A Midsummer Night's Dream.” Set in a children's playground and based on characters you would find in a school, this classic comedy has been adapted and edited to make it even more accessible for modern audiences, while keeping the vast majority of Shakespeare's beautiful language.  Featuring a cast of 25 students in grades 9-12, this production runs from Dec 13-16 nightly at 7:30pmAll tickets are $7.50 at the door.  For more info, please contact the director Mr. Plant at cplant@sd63.bc.ca or call 250-658-6672.

Toys 4 Teens
TODAY is the final day to donate $10 gift cards to our Toys 4 Teens Donation Drive. Ms Giordano will tally the gift cards and announce which winning block 2 class will attend the wrap-up event at Mayfair Mall on Dec. 15. Our school goal is 1000 gift cards. This event is in collaboration with the Zone's Annual Toy Drive.  Go Spartans!

STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Christmas Lip-Sync Battle

Student Government will be hosting a festive lip-sync battle at lunch on TUESDAY December 19th.  The sign-up sheet is on the theatre door.

CLUBS
Warm Clothes for Cold People - YCI

YCI is looking for anyone and everyone to donate new or gently used warm clothing to the Out of the Rain Youth Shelter.  Useful items include: clean, warm socks, sleeping bags, hoodies, t-shirts, warm jackets, toques, and gloves. Look for the collection bins in front of the office.

Key Club Fundraiser - Pottery
TODAY & WEDNESDAY, Key Club will be selling pottery mugs, bowls, and plates to raise funds for charities Key Club supports. It's a great opportunity to get some holiday gifts and be charitable too!  Please come to the lounge at lunchtime.

ATHLETICS
Curling Team

For all members of the curling team: there will be a meeting TODAY at lunch in room 312.

Basketball
Congrats to the Jr Boys 'B' team on their home court victory last night. The next action for both them and the Jr Girls 'B' teams is TOMORROW (Wednesday) at home after school.

TODAY, 3 of our 4 'A' teams are at Oak Bay in league play:
Jr Girls are at 4:15
Jr Boys are at 5:45
Sr Girls are at 7:30 in what many are predicting to be a preview of the two top teams in the city and island.

Job Opportunities

There are short and long-term job opportunities in the Sidney/North Saanich area.
1)  4-hour weekly yard work ($15 per hour).

Basics of Finance - Free Training
New Basics of Finance training course! You will learn all about credit cards, pre-paid cards and loans, the advantages and disadvantages, what to look for and how to calculate the “real” cost of a loan. Saturday January 27th 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney.  More information in the Career Centre.

Grad Portrait Retakes

If you missed getting your grad portraits taken, or if you need retake grad photos taken, Lifetouch is returning to Claremont with their portable photo studio for two days only:  January 22 & 23.  You can book your appointment online now by going to www.lifetouch.ca/victoria.

Dry Grad Meeting – Parents & Grad Council Students
The last 2017 meeting of the All Night Dry Grad Committee is TONIGHT @ 7pm in the Learning Commons.  We would love to see everyone so we can share the information we have gathered so far, where we need help, ways to help, or find a spot where you would like to help. All parents from all grades are welcome.
Grade 12 students who are on the Grad Council: please join us too... we would love your input on what we have so far.  We look forward to seeing parents and Grad Council students tonight.

Grad Wear Is Here
Grad Wear will be available for pickup TODAY at lunch only in the main gym. Please line up in appropriate alphabetical lines. Grad Council: your help is needed to distribute.

Grad Transition
Grade 12s:  give yourself the gift of a completed Grad Transition!!!  Congratulations to the almost 40 students who have already submitted their GT!!   Pick up you GT forms from the Career Centre and get it done!  Graduation Transition is a Grad Requirement.

Peninsula Youth Health Clinic – New Hours

Important: Hours have changed - The Peninsula Youth Health Clinic is now open every Thursday from 5-7pm. Walk in's are welcome, but if you are interested in booking an appointment or would like more info, call the clinic at 250-656-4114.  Location: at the Ocean Pier Medical Clinic, (#207-2537 Beacon Avenue in Sidney)   This clinic offers completely free and confidential service in the areas of physical, sexual, and mental health for youth.  This Youth Clinic offers a judgement-free zone for all youth and is an LGBTQ safe space.
