GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Deadline to Drop Classes – TODAY

The deadline to drop a class from this semester, so that it doesn’t appear on your report card, is TODAY.  Drop forms are in the Career Centre.

Vancouver Drama Field Trip
All interested students in a trip to Vancouver June 16 & 17 to see 2 musicals and a play: please see Mrs Giordano for a permission form.  This trip is going to be EPIC.

Math 100 Students
All students who have signed up for Math 100 for next year:  there is a very important meeting this TUESDAY May 29 at lunch in computer lab 225.

ROMS Spring Fair Today– Volunteers Needed
Royal Oak Middle School is having a Spring Fair TODAY from 3:15 – 6:00 and they really need some student volunteers for collecting tickets for the Games 2U activities.  Time is very short; please contact Belinda Waller (volunteer coordinator) by email if you can help:  bandmwaller@shaw.ca

Looking for a Peer Tutor
If you are a grade 12 student who is available to tutor Pre-Calc 12 and Physics 12 on Thursdays after school, can you please see Ms. Giese in the counselling office for more information.

3D Printer Claremont Keychains
Get your very own Claremont keychain made on a 3D printer by our very own student, Braiden!  They are only $5 and are for sale every day in the Office. They represent Spartan spirit as well as many various clubs, teams and interests.... even grad 2018!!

Year-Long Drama – Final Two Nights
The final two shows of  “The Dining Room” are TONIGHT and SATURDAY night at 7:30pm in the Ridge Playhouse.  Tickets are $7.50 at the door. The play is approximately 2 hours long, and includes an intermission.  For more info: cplant@sd63.bc.ca

‘Get Caught Reading’ Month
May is ‘Get Caught Reading’ Month at the Learning Commons. Tweet your reading selfies to @SD63ClaremontLC for chance to win free pizza as part of the May Days celebration. There will be themed books and displays all month so please drop by and enjoy!

May is Relationships Month
Staff, keep your eyes peeled this month for students who are building and maintaining healthy relationships in the Claremont community, and nominate them for our Relationships Lunch. Students, have a look at the "3 Rs" posters to get an idea of what staff will be looking for.

ATHLETICS
Golf Team

The Claremont Spartans won the "AAA" Golf Island Championships yesterday at Gorge Vale Golf Course. Congratulations to Spencer Gamble, Woo Park, Michael Wu, Richard Zhang, Chase Basanta, and Mr. Ryan.  Michael Wu was tied for the low gross score, shooting 74. The Spartans will compete in the BC High School Championships in early June.

The Gardens at Horticulture Centre of the Pacific on Quayle Rd has 3 great summer job opportunities: Gardens Assistant, Events Assistant, and a Youth Development Coordinator. 35 hours per week / $13.00 per hour, from the end of June to the end of August. 
Gardening help: Local resident on Searidge Drive is still looking for gardening help for 2-3 hours on weekends. NO lawn mowing required. $12 per hour to start.
Moving gravel: May 26 only. Local resident is looking for help to move pea gravel, Saturday, May 26th, starting at 9:00 am. Pay will be between $15-$20.00 /hour! 

Volunteer Opportunities
June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day! Volunteers are needed to help at an NIPD event going to be hosted in partnership with Royal Roads, the local First Nations and the Provincial Government. It will be a day full of learning, eating and fun events for families! If you would like to volunteer to help with the many activities happening on this day, please talk to Mrs. Marshall (Planning & PEP teacher).

Friends of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory, (DAO),  needs 3 artistic students, who love working with children, to face paint images of space and celestial bodies to help with the Observatory 100 year celebrations and DAO fundraiser!  Saturday, June 9th, from 4:15- 9:15 pm.  Please visit the Career Centre for more info.

COMMUNITY NEWS
UVic Submarine Racing Club

UVic Submarine Racing Clubs is hosting an event at Mackinnon Pool (UVic) TOMORROW, Saturday May 26 from 3:30-6:00.  Members of the club worked extremely hard for 8 months designing and building a submarine from scratch and it will be on display in the pool.  This event will showcase the field of marine systems engineering, and demonstrate the capabilities of UVic engineering.  Our aim to motivate students to start thinking about their future careers, and to showcase what to expect from engineering if you join our club at UVic.  This event will also host members of the community and the marine industry including Babcock Canada, and SSi-Corporate.

Victoria Flying Club - Open House
The Victoria Flying Club in Sidney is hosting its annual open house and Community Day, Saturday, May 26th, from 11 am to 3 pm! Check out the "Learn to Fly" info session at 1:30 pm.  Do a discovery flight - fly an air plane, try the simulator, or just check out the planes!  Visit the Career Centre for more info.

Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.

Youth Clinic
The main Victoria Youth Clinic is open to all youth and is located at  818 Douglas Street on the 3rd floor. It is open Monday to Thursday 11-5 and Friday 11-4.
