Linear Dancers
The Linear Dancers competed at the Elements High School Dance Competition last week. The Senior Team placed 2nd for Contemporary and 3rd for Jazz.  The Junior Team placed 1st for Tap, 1st for Jazz, 2nd for Contemporary and won the Judge's Choice Award for their Tap routine "Anything Goes." Congrats Dancers, you made Ms G and Claremont proud!

Musical Theatre 2018/19
All students in Musical Theatre next year are invited to a meeting TODAY at lunch in the theatre to receive a copy of the script of ADDAMS FAMILY and to discuss the Vancouver Trip.  All are welcome.

Vancouver Drama Field Trip
All interested students in a trip to Vancouver June 16 & 17 to see 2 musicals and a play: Mama Mia, Once, and Macbeth).  Please see Mr Plant or Mrs Giordano for a permission form.  This trip is going to be EPIC.

D-Day Anniversary Event TONIGHT
Today is the 74th anniversary of D-Day.  Come to the Ridge Theatre TONIGHT at 6:30 to see a free screening of the 45-minute IMAX film “D-Day.” Anyone is welcome.  Find out how you can go on a school trip to England, France, and Belgium next year to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. Basketball Game: Staff vs 2018 Boys Travel Team.
This upcoming MONDAY at lunch time there will be a basketball game between the almighty Staff and the 2018 Boys Basketball travel team. Tickets are being sold at lunch time and around the school for $2 to help fund raise for their trip to Hawaii in December. Get your tickets while they last and come cheer on your fellow Spartans.

Learning Commons Book Return
A pirate ship has taken over the Learning Commons! Renowned pirate Captain James Book is requesting that outstanding books be returned by June 15. Any landlubbers with clear library accounts by the end of the month may receive a special surprise. Stay tuned and get those books back!

Year Books
Time is running out to order a year book.  Please see Ms Marshall in the Accounting office. $45.  There will be a table set up each day at lunch hour this week in the student lounge, with a list of everyone who has already ordered one, if you need to check this.

3D Printer Claremont Keychains
Braiden will be selling his Claremont 3D printer keychains TODAY at lunch in the student lounge. They are only $5 and they represent Spartan spirit as well as many various clubs, teams and interests.... even grad 2018!!

Free Tibet Club

Free Tibet Claremont will be hosting a movie night this FRIDAY at 4:00! We will be playing Kundun, a movie that highlights the current humanitarian crisis going on in Tibet. There will be popcorn for sale!

Trades Exploration (TEX) Program

Want to learn more about what it is like to work as a carpenter, plumber, electrician, or welder?  There are still 7 seats available for next year’s Semester 2 Trades Exploration Program, provided in partnership with Camosun College. Learn about each trade, fast track your future and earn up to 24 credits toward grad for completing 6 courses!  Please Mr. Arsenault or Ms. Loukes in the Career Centre for more information.  They also have information on incentive grants and paid tuition for programs at Camosun related to the trades.

Volunteer Opportunities
June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day! Volunteers are needed to help at an NIPD event going to be hosted in partnership with Royal Roads, the local First Nations and the Provincial Government. It will be a day full of learning, eating and fun events for families! If you would like to volunteer to help with the many activities happening on this day, please talk to Mrs. Marshall (Planning & PEP teacher).

Friends of the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory, (DAO),  needs 3 artistic students, who love working with children, to face paint images of space and celestial bodies to help with the Observatory 100 year celebrations and DAO fundraiser!  Saturday, June 9th, from 4:15- 9:15 pm.  Please visit the Career Centre for more info.

The Claremont Dry Grad Committee has been fortunate to coordinate our efforts with the Stellys Dry Grad Committee this year. This is an enormous cost saving venture for us. Stellys will help us with the decorating and set up. In kind, Claremont is responsible to assist with decorating and take down the following evening. For this to be a success, please consider lending a hand.

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.

Youth Clinic
The main Victoria Youth Clinic is open to all youth and is located at  818 Douglas Street on the 3rd floor. It is open Monday to Thursday 11-5 and Friday 11-4.
