GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Spartan Day – Toonies for Terry

Our first Spartan Day is THIS FRIDAY Oct. 5th!  We have 3 Spartan Days a year to celebrate being a Spartan and give back to our community. This Spartan Day is in support of the Terry Fox Foundation. Our campaign is called "Toonies for Terry.”  We hope that each student and staff member donate 1 (or more) toonies to this wonderful cause.  Please bring your toonies to your block 2 class on Friday and please wear RED.

School Photos
It you haven’t picked up your school photos and student I.D. cards, they will be handed out again TODAY at the start of lunch at the Ridge Theatre box office counter.

Beef Jerkey - Fundraiser
The Senior Boys Basketball ‘Travel Team’ will be selling Beef Jerky products at lunch starting TODAY in the lounge. Come to the  ‘Feed Your Wildside Lounge’ to help support the boys and grab a light snack from a variety of options and flavours, ranging from $2 - $3.50.

CLUBS
Clubs Showcase - Thursday Oct. 4

It's never too late to join a club!  From Magic, Robotics, School Spirit, Community Service, various Arts, Science, and more ...there's something for everyone!  Check out the Clubs Showcase this THURSDAY at lunch in the Learning Commons, and find out what’s happening at Claremont!  See you there! 

Chess Club
The Claremont Chess Club is up and running every day at lunch in room 327.  All levels welcome. There is lots of equipment so come and play at lunch anytime.  Sponsor: Mr Gardner

ATHLETICS
Swim Team

If you are still interested in signing up for the Claremont Swim Team, time is running out.  You must sign up with Mrs. Marshall in room 336 by this WEDNESDAY to swim in the meet on October 21.

Curling Team
A reminder that we will be having our second Curling Team Meeting this WEDNESDAY at lunch in room 225.  Please bring completed paperwork (see Mr. Hayes if you haven't grabbed the player package yet).  First curling session is next Wednesday, October 10!

CAREER CENTRE
Trade Program Seats at Camosun

Camosun College still has seats available for 2019 intakes of SIP (South Island Partnership) Programs in: Carpentry Foundation; Cook Foundation; Electrical Foundation; Fine Furniture; Joinery; Piping Foundation; Refrigeration; Sheet Metal Foundation; and Welding Foundation. Get more information about receiving both high school and college credits and free tuition with these programs from Mr. Arsenault in the Career Centre.

Parents as Informed Partners
Saanich Career Education presents "Parents as Informed Partners" at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney this THURSDAY, Oct. 4th at 7:00 pm. Learn about various specialty programs, "dual credit", post secondary and trades training while still in high school, hear from a parent & student panel, partner post secondary institutions, and much more! Visit the Career Centre for more information on this great career path information meeting!

Canadian Tire @ Broadmead is getting ready to gear up for the Xmas season and is looking to hire for 6-8 cashier positions!  Part-time employees are expected to be available at least one weekend day and either one of Thursday or Friday nights, with more shifts available if desired.

GRAD 2019
Grad Parent Night TONIGHT

Mr. Westhaver invites all parents/guardians of students graduating in 2019 to attend an information session in the Ridge Theatre, TONIGHT, 6:00 - 6:45 pm.  This is an opportunity to learn many details about the grad year, graduation events, post secondary, grad transition, scholarships and many other details.

Following the meeting in the Ridge Theatre, the Dry Grad 2019 Committee will host a parent meeting in the Learning Commons at 7pm.  Please join this meeting and hear about Dry Grad 2019.

Grad Portraits
Grads, have you booked your appointment yet for your portraits?  Lifetouch will start their photo shoots next week!  Be sure to book your appointment right away.  All details are on the Claremont Grad Page.

Grad 2019 Pinnies
If you wish to order a Grad 2019 Pinnie, order forms are online on the Grad 2019 Page of the Claremont website; there are also some paper copies available in the office.  Pinnies are $35. Deadline to order is THIS FRIDAY October 5th.

Dry Grad
The next Dry Grad meeting is TONIGHT @ 7pm in the Learning Commons; it follows right after the Parent Grad Meeting.

Camosun College Visit for International Students

Reminder that there will be a Camosun College representative to speak with International students TODAY at lunch in the the IGS room 264.

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.

Cordova Bay Local Area Plan
If you are under 50 and living in Cordova Bay, you are invited to contribute to the Cordova Bay Local Area Plan Update (guiding, planning and land use decisions for the community over the next 20 to 30 years).  There is an upcoming interactive workshop, seeking constructive input from younger age groups and those raising families. Discuss issues such as: parks, housing, transportation, safety, the Village and more. Please join in to share what is important to you. WEDNESDAY, October 3, 5:30-7:00pm @ the Claremont Learning Commons. Pizza and refreshments provided for everyone.
