GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
ScreamFest

Claremont is hosting the 10th annual ScreamFest Halloweeen event Oct 25/26. It is bigger and better than last year, with new mid-way games and an expanded and improved Haunted Walk.  Tickets will be on sale each day at lunch at the Spartan Store.  $10 per person.
Many students bought their tickets as part of their school fees. Those students can claim their ticket at the Spartan Store, but must present their student card as ID to do so.

Dual Credit Camosun Registration
For all students taking AP Biology semester 2: there is an important registration meeting this WEDNESDAY at lunch in computer lab 225.
Anyone who has not completed this registration process for semester 2 Dual Credit Camosun courses (Psychology, Criminology, Business) should also attend. Please see Ms. Giese for questions.

Grade 9 Immunization Forms
Reminder for grade 9 students to please get the immunization forms signed by a parent or guardian and return them to the school office this week.

Numeracy Exam
In addition to the normal January and June exam sessions, Claremont will also be offering a chance to write the Numeracy Exam on November 5. If writing in January or June does not work for you, or if you would like an extra opportunity to score well on this exam, please sign up in the office.  Space is limited to 30 students in a morning session, and 30 in an afternoon session.

Beef Jerkey - Fundraiser
The Senior Boys Basketball ‘Travel Team’ will be selling Beef Jerky products at lunch TODAY in the lounge. Come check out some NEW products!  Snack range from $2 - $3.50.

Bus Passes
There are still many unclaimed bus passes in the office.  Please come pick them up.

Photo Retakes - Oct. 25
Photo retake day is next week on THURSDAY October 25 in block 1, if you missed the first photo day, or if you want a new photo taken.  If you want retakes, you must return your complete original package (and I.D. card) to the photographer at the time of retakes. 
Purchasing photos is optional, but all students in all grades need to have school photos taken, for school identification purposes (grade 12’s too - even if you are having grad photos taken).  Order forms are available in the office. There is also an option to order photos on the Lifetouch website; the office also has those order forms.

CLUBS
Spirit Squad – Hat Day!!

Our first Theme Day of the year is this THURSDAY and it is Hat Day!!  Enjoy wearing your favourite hat all day long. We will take a group picture in the student lounge at the start of lunch of anyone who's wearing a hat.

The Science and Engineering Club
The first meeting of the Science and Engineering Club is TODAY at lunch in room 207 (Mr Vucko’s room).  This club is involved in exploring the nearby scientific community.  In the past we toured the UVic Engineering Department, the TRIUMF particle accelerator, and experienced a behind-the-scenes tour of Viking Air.  Exploration in the STEM community is paired with hands-on projects, such as working with single stage rockets and a muon detector. It also offers Science Fair mentorship and support. Come by TODAY at lunch to see what we are doing.

ATHLETICS
Cross Country

For all members of Claremont's Cross Country team: there is an important meeting TODAY at lunch in Mr. Nelson's room (137).

CAREER CENTRE
University Visit

A representative from the University of British Columbia will be at Claremont on WEDNESDAY,  October 31 after school in the Learning Commons.  Find out all you need to know about admissions and programs offered at UBC!

Upcoming Job Fair
WorkBC Victoria Job Fair: Thursday, October 18, from 1- 4 pm at the Central Baptist Church in Victoria!Come prepared with copies of your resume and ready for interviews with featured employers including Wal-Mart, Fairway Markets, Canadian Tire, Lowe's, Slegg Lumber and more!

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
