Jr Boys & Jr Girls Volleyball
A huge shout out to both the Claremont Junior Boys and Junior Girls team for winning their respective tournaments this weekend at Belmont!

The Jr Girls began their tournament play Friday by going undefeated in 4 matches, knocking off Stelly's, Parkland, Mt. Doug, and Wellington en route to a perfect 4-0 day. Additionally, Jill Waller smashed a team record, serving her 100th ace of the season (with more than 4 weeks remaining on the year, nonetheless!).  Saturday offered the strongest competition that we've seen this year, and the girls managed to beat out PCS in a close semi-final (25-14, 23-25, 15-13) before facing Island nemesis Carihi in the final. Though Carihi played incredibly well, they just weren't able to handle our firepower, and we narrowly edged them out in a nail biter third set victory(22-25, 25-20, 18-16.)

The Jr Boys saw strong play from the whole team finishing 8-0 on Friday to start Saturday in the semi-finals. We closed out Vic High in straight sets to take on PCS in a big game for 1st place. And a big game it was.  The pressure was felt by both teams to start the first set strong, and neither showed much weakness. Our hitting was good, but their whole team showed exceptional passing and digging to keep the ball in play. They took the first set by a small margin. The same lineup came out from Claremont to start the second and the boys cleaned up their passing and continued to be strong at the net with big blocks by Colby Parker and Jakob Neufeld. Kieran Robinson-Dunning played a solid back row, and showed poise under pressure when serving. We took the second set to force a third. In the third set we worked hard to gain a lead and then kept hold of it until the end, closing out the match by just a couple of points.
