GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Numeracy Exam
Reminder that if you signed up to write TODAY’s Numeracy Exam, both exams (9:00am and 1:00pm) will take place in the Career Centre.
Mr Ryan’s Jr PE Classes
This is a reminder to Mr. Ryan's Jr. PE classes that the make up skills testing is TODAY at lunch in the big gym.
Also, the "Teams Competition" winner of Mr Ryan's PE 10 Girls block 4 class is "Team Dani". You can claim your prize TUESDAY at lunch time in the PE office.
Blood Drive
There are still a few appointments available for the blood drive this week. See Ms Chapman to book an appointment. You must be 17 or older to donate.
Careers in Medicine & Health Care
Are you interested in a career in medicine or health care? TOMORROW (Tuesday), two student's from UVic's Pre-Med Club (including Claremont alumna Emma van Well) will be joining us at lunch in Room 200 to discuss careers in healthcare, medical school, med school admissions, and university life in general. This is an excellent opportunity for you to ask questions and gain insight into career options and the pre-med lifestyle.
Cafeteria Punch Cards
Reminder to students that cafeteria punch cards for $5 or $10 are available to purchase from the Accounting office. This is a great option if you find yourself out of cash or if the ATM is out of order at lunch time.
PAC Breakfast Club
The PAC Breakfast Club will be running on WEDNESDAY mornings (before block 1) in the student lounge. All students are welcome to come by for bagels, spreads and juice boxes. All items are free!

Senior Girls Basketball
Reminder: the first tryout for the Senior Girls Basketball team is TONIGHT from 7:15-9:00 pm. See Ms. Robertson if you cannot make it.
Junior Girls Basketball
The first tryout for the Junior Girls Basketball team is WEDNESDAY from 3:00-4:30 pm. See Ms. Robertson if you cannot make it.
Jr Girls Volleyball
TODAY our Junior Girls Volleyball team is hosting the 2018 City Championships at Claremont. Matches begin at 2:30pm, with Claremont facing off against Reynolds in the big gym. This game is extra special for the Junior Girls, as a victory in this match would grant us a position at the Island Championships. Students with spares are welcome to come and support the team in block 4. Go Spartans!!
Jr Boys Volleyball
The Claremont Jr Boys Volleyball team took home 3rd place at City Championships this weekend. The Spartans played fast-paced sets against Oak Bay, Reynolds, Vic High, PCS and, ultimately, the bronze medal games were against Mt Doug; strong play from the Rams forced a third set, but we managed to lock in third place for our Islands tournament later this week.

District Hairdressing Program
Any students interested in the dual credit Cosmo/Hairdressing Program, offered by SD#63 in partnership with Vancouver Island University, please see Mr. Arsenault in the Career Centre to sign up for the Feb. 2019 start!
Soldier For A Day- Work/Study Program
The BC Army Reserve is hosting a Soldier for a Day program on SATURDAY, November 17th. This program is an introduction to the role of the BC Army Reserve both here in your home community, across Canada and even around the world. It’s also worth 6 1/2 hours of work experience. Don’t wait too long to sign up, as spaces are filling up fast!
For students in grades 10 to 12: the BC Army Reserve is also hosting a full time SUMMER employment program; this includes leadership training, paid community service, plus up to $8000 of educational reimbursement funding. See Mr. Arsenault in the Career Centre for more information on both of these opportunities.
Art Colleges Fair – Nov. 28
Students interested in Art and Design: mark your calendars for the Art Colleges Fair on Wednesday, November 28th at St. Michael's University School, from 6:00-7:30 pm! This art fair is a great opportunity for students to learn about a number of art and design programs in the U.S. and Canada. Visit the Career Centre for a list of the art schools that will be participating.

Grad Portraits
The waiting is over... a representative from Lifetouch will be in the student lounge TODAY at the start of lunch to hand out grad portrait proofs to our grade 12 students.
Winter Gala – December 5
Grads: Winter Gala is coming up on December 5th. Tickets will be sold this week on TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY at lunch in the student lounge. Don't miss out on this amazing event. Each $50 ticket includes a formal dinner, dessert and DJ dance. Cash and cheques accepted in the student lounge. For debit and Visa/MasterCard transactions, please see Ms. Marshall at the Accounting office. Hope to see you there.
Grad Wear
2019 Grad Wear is now on sale!! Clothing order forms are available at the main office or the accounting office. Forms and payment are to be returned to the Accounting office – deadline is Friday Nov. 16.
Grad Transition
Tic toc, tic toc... Get your GT done and you will rock! Pick up your forms from the Career Centre and interview with your favourite teacher! Grad Transition is a must to do; the sooner the better - you know it's true!
Dry Grad Meeting – Nov. 6th

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
Cordova Bay Local Area Plan: Transportation
The District of Saanich is updating the Cordova Bay Local Area Plan. Residents are invited to attend their next workshop on THURSDAY, November 8th called Building The Plan: Workshop #1 = Transportation . The District of Saanich has taken the input you’ve provided so far and put together policy options on transportation for the Local Area Plan update. You're invited to provide your feedback at the drop-in interactive displays and/or join them for a scheduled workshop. They want your input on how they can improve connections, pedestrian safety, cycling networks, transit and vehicle circulation. Refreshments provided for everyone.
