GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Deadline for Course Selections Forms & Applications for Programs of Choice – March 6

All course selection forms and applications for Programs of Choice (CSI, IGS, PEP) are due back to the office on WEDNESDAY March 6th (this is an extension from the previous deadline). PARENT SIGNATURES ARE REQUIRED.

Spartan Day – March 8
FRIDAY March 8 is our next Spartan Day! Please wear RED (and Grads... yes, you can wear your Pinnies). We will be shooting a school spirit video in Block 2.

Talent Show
This year's Talent Show will be in April but the Sign-up sheet is posted now in the Student Lounge. All acts are welcome. Talk to Ms. Giordano if you have questions.

Musical Theatre Presents “The Addams Family”
Claremont's Musical Theatre program presents “The Addams Family .” Tickets are now on sale through Mrs. Marshall in the accounting office; call 250-658-6672. 7pm shows run March 7-9 and  March 13-16. Additional 1pm matinees on March 9 & 16. Tickets are $15 Adults, or $12 for Students/Seniors. Open seating. Plan early; this show is sure to sell out!!

CLUBS
Key Club

Key Club meets THURSDAYS at lunch in Room 135.  Members will elect their new Executive Committee at TODAY’s meeting.  See you there!

Pre-Med Club
For all students planning on attending the field trip to the Medical Science Building at UVic on Tuesday, there will be an important meeting on FRIDAY at lunch in Room 200. Please return your field trip forms to Ms. McAvoy as soon as possible.

YCI - Warm Clothes for Cold People Clothing Drive
Thank you to all who supported the book drive. It was a huge success!
Members of YCI are now sponsoring a warm clothing drive for downtown Victoria shelters. Please bring in gently used or new coats, scarves, gloves, hoodies, footwear etc to the bin outside the front of the office. Deadline is this FRIDAY March 1st.

ATHLETICS
Badminton

For any and all students interested in playing on the Badminton team, there will be a very important meeting TODAY at lunch.  We will introduce the coaches as well as discuss tryout info, practice dates, and season info. See Mr Reisig if you have any questions or can't attend.

Tennis
For any and all students interested in playing on the Tennis team, there is a meeting tomorrow (FRIDAY) at lunch in room 327.  See Mr Gardner if you have any questions or can't attend.

Senior Girls Soccer
Sr Girls Soccer tryouts start next week and will be held on TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY at Lochside turf after school. Please see Ms Yager for more details.

Rowing
Claremont CSI rowers will be at their first regatta of the year this weekend at Elk Lake. If you want to come support the team, or want to see some University level and National Team athletes racing, come on down.
Also, the rowing team is doing a Purdy's fundraiser, so if you're keen on getting some Easter chocolates or some everyday chocolates, talk to a rowing student or Mr. Peacock!

Mattick’s Farm Mini Golf is seeking energetic part time employees for the 2019 season (including Spring Break).  Must be available to work weekends and evenings. Food Safe certification required. Food Safe Training – April 8
Food Safe Level 1 training:  Monday, April 8, 2019, from 8:30 - 4:30 pm, at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. $50. Food Safe is useful for anyone working in the food service, food retail, or food processing industries. You will learn how to handle food safely in order to prevent food from being contaminated.  Visit the Career Centre for registration info.

First Aid Training – April 6
First Aid with CPR "C" & AED training
: Saturday, April 6, from 8:30-4:00 pm at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. $50. This course covers initial assessment, disease prevention, secondary survey, airway obstruction, adult/child/infant CPR, & the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.

University of Alberta – March 13
Are you considering attending the University of Alberta after grad?  U of A representatives will be hosting a Registration 101 Workshop in downtown Victoria on WEDNESDAY, March 13 at 7 pm at the Magnolia Hotel & Spa - 623 Courtney St. Learn about the online registrations process, build a draft schedule, get advice on first-year course selection and meet fellow first-year students!

GRAD 2019
Camosun College Info Night - TONIGHT

The Camosun College Info Night is happening at the Landsdowne Campus TONIGHT (Feb. 28th) from 5:30 - 8:00 pm! There will be representatives from each area of study, campus tours, info sessions and information booths set up for Admissions, Financial Aid, South Island Partnership and Continuing Education. NEW UVic Admission Acceptance Deadline – May 1
Attention students with offers of admission to UVic in September 2019: please note that your admission acceptance deadline has been moved up to May 1st, instead of June 1st! If you have any questions or concerns please contact the UVic recruiter for Claremont.

SAT Preparation at SMUS – Deadline is TODAY to Register
It's that time of the year for students, considering entrance in a USA university after grad, to prepare for the May 4 SAT exams. SAT prep. classes are being offered again this year at St. Michael's University School starting March 2nd. Registration deadline is TODAY. Please visit the Career Centre for more information.

Dry Grad Fundraiser: Epicure
From Feb 7 - March 7, we are asking Grad families to help with fund-raising by selling three versatile Fundraising Collections from Epi-Cure:
1. Extraordinary Trio for $25.00
2. Weeknight Dinners for $20.00
3. Healthier Desserts for $20.00
Epicure is a local, family owned company that helps families create meal solutions that are healthy, delicious, gluten free, and 90% non-GMO.  With each kit sold, the Dry Grad Committee will receive 40% of the funds raised!  More information and an order form is on the Claremont Dry Grad 2019 fundraising page.

RE/MAX Quest For Excellence Bursaries
This year RE/MAX is once again offering (16) $1,000 bursaries for a total of $16,000 to grade 12 students. This program was established by RE/MAX of Western Canada to recognize the success and ongoing pursuits of Western Canadian students in regards to leadership and community contribution initiatives. Only online entries will be accepted; students enter online at www.remax.ca.  Deadline for submissions for the 2019 Quest for Excellence program is midnight March 11th..

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Rocky Mountains Trip – April 7-10

International students: there is an amazing bus trip and tour planned to the Rocky Mountains, 4 days & 3 nights: April 7-10.  Enjoy some of the best mountain views in Canada, explore the town of Banff, see wildlife and experience the 360 degree mountain view at the top of the Banff Gondola, with optional extra activities (Ice Walking Tour, Snowshoeing Tour, and  Banff Wildlife Tour).  Deadline to book is March 7. Seats are limited and this trip will fill up fast.  Go to the Saanich International Student Program Website;  the sign-up LINK is under Events/News.

Mt. Washington Ski Trip
If you have signed up on line to go on the Mt Washington trip, please bring your permission forms to Brenda; forms must be signed by your parents.

COMMUNITY NEWS
Community Supports Info Night – TONIGHT

COPACS has put together an evening for parents to be introduced to a number of community supports available to SD63 families, such as: Beacon Community Services, Peninsula Youth Clinic, Public Health, Family Smart, Discovery Youth and Family Substance Use Services and more.  There will be service providers giving a brief overview of their services, and an opportunity for parents to connect and get resources. TONIGHT, 7:00 p.m. at Bayside Middle School.

Vancouver Island Parent Conference – March 2
The Vancouver Island Parent Conference has been putting on world-class parenting conferences for over 10 years, bringing together attendees from across BC. This year’s conference theme is “Change: It’s Here to Stay” and features keynotes by Alyson Schafer and Ann Douglas. Come enjoy a day of connecting with other parents over important, of-the-moment issues. Learn useful tools and hear fresh perspectives from leading experts.  March 2, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm at Belmont Secondary School.  Childcare is available at $35/child through Westshore Parks & Recreation.  For more information & registration:  vipc.ca

Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
