GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Spartan Day – Tomorrow

TOMORROW (Friday) is our next Spartan Day! Please wear RED (and Grads... yes, you can wear your Pinnies). We will be shooting a school spirit video in Block 2.
There will be an adjusted class schedule for Spartan Day:
Block 1: 9:00-10:05
Block 2: 10:10-11:15
Spirit Video: 11:15-11:45 (2 takes and then everyone in gym for finale)
Lunch: 11:45-12:30
Block 3: 12:30-1:35
Block 4: 1:40-2:48

Buddies for Visiting Japanese Students
All students who are signed up as buddies to support Japanese students from Kato Gakuen High School on Monday and Tuesday: there is a brief meeting TODAY at lunch in the Career Centre.

The Addams Family: Opens Tonight
Claremont's Musical Theatre’s presentation of  “The Addams Family” opens TONIGHT. Tickets are on sale through Mrs. Marshall in the accounting office; call 250-658-6672. 7pm shows run March 7-9 and  March 13-16. Additional 1pm matinees on March 9 & 16. Tickets are $15 Adults, or $12 for Students/Seniors. Open seating. Plan early; this show is sure to sell out!!

Talent Show
This year's Talent Show will be in April but the Sign-up sheet is posted now in the Student Lounge. All acts are welcome. Talk to Ms. Giordano if you have questions.

Times Colonist 10K
Did you know that Claremont has a TC 10K team? This year's race is on Sunday April 28th and the Claremont Spartans Team is open to all staff and students who wish to run, walk or jog. No experience is necessary. Register online and make sure you select School Team Challenge and Team Name “Claremont Spartans” from the drop down menu. See Ms. Graves for more information.

Super Smash Bros Project ‘M’ is TODAY at lunch in room 215. Everyone welcome.

Math Club
The deadline for registering for the Euclid, Fryer, Galois and Hypatia contests is next week. Please double-check the lists outside room 133 to see if you have already signed up, and add your name if you have not. These contests happen very soon after we return from Spring Break, so mark the dates in your calendar.  See Mr. Skanks with any questions.

For all students interested in trying out for the golf team: there is a brief but important meeting TODAY at the beginning of lunch, in the small gym.  Please see Mr. Ryan in the PE office if you are unable to attend.

CAREER CENTRE
Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteers are wanted for the Victoria International Jazz Fest, June 21-30.  Calling all musical students! If you play any of the following instruments, WE NEED YOU! - Guitar, Trumpet, Keyboard, Trombone, Double Bass or Alto Saxophone. We need volunteer help with this year's Tom Lee instrument petting zoo, to help kids try out different instruments. Stop by the Career Centre for more information and application forms or visit: jazzvictoria.ca for more details.

Stellys Fair Grounds - Peninsula Country Market June 1 – October 13.  2 Students are hired to help out at this weekly market each year. If you like to be outdoors, the sound of live music, fresh fruit & veggies this is a wonderful summer job!
Yard clean-up in North Saanich. $60 for 2-3 hours work picking up and stacking fallen branches.
Summer housekeeping for large home North Saanich  -  20 hours per week @ $15.00/hour.
Spreading gravel on 10 ft. garden bed in Sidney.  Approx. 2 hours @ $15.00/hour.visit the Career Centre.
Chuck's Burger Bar in Sidney is looking for someone to join their team as a dishwasher, Thursday to Saturday evenings. Earn wages + tips.  Experience is not necessary, just a positive attitude! 
Mattick’s Farm Mini Golf is seeking energetic part time employees for the 2019 season (including Spring Break).  Must be available to work weekends and evenings. Food Safe certification required. Food Safe Training – April 8
Food Safe Level 1 training:  Monday, April 8, 2019, from 8:30 - 4:30 pm, at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. $50. Food Safe is useful for anyone working in the food service, food retail, or food processing industries. You will learn how to handle food safely in order to prevent food from being contaminated.  Visit the Career Centre for registration info.

First Aid Training – April 6
First Aid with CPR "C" & AED training: Saturday, April 6, from 8:30-4:00 pm at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney. $50. This course covers initial assessment, disease prevention, secondary survey, airway obstruction, adult/child/infant CPR, & the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.

University of Alberta – March 13
Are you considering attending the University of Alberta after grad?  U of A representatives will be hosting a Registration 101 Workshop in downtown Victoria on WEDNESDAY, March 13 at 7 pm at the Magnolia Hotel & Spa - 623 Courtney St. Learn about the online registrations process, build a draft schedule, get advice on first-year course selection and meet fellow first-year students!

GRAD 2019
NEW UVic Admission Acceptance Deadline – May 1

Attention students with offers of admission to UVic in September 2019: please note that your admission acceptance deadline has been moved up to May 1st, instead of June 1st! If you have any questions or concerns please contact the UVic recruiter for Claremont.

Reminder to Grads to get your Grad Transition forms and interview completed while you still have time to choose your own person to interview you!  GT forms are available from the Career Centre.

RE/MAX Quest For Excellence Bursaries
This year RE/MAX is once again offering (16) $1,000 bursaries for a total of $16,000 to grade 12 students. This program was established by RE/MAX of Western Canada to recognize the success and ongoing pursuits of Western Canadian students in regards to leadership and community contribution initiatives. Only online entries will be accepted; students enter online at www.remax.ca.  Deadline for submissions for the 2019 Quest for Excellence program is midnight March 11th..

Dry Grad Fundraiser: Epicure
From Feb 7 - March 7, we are asking Grad families to help with fund-raising by selling three versatile Fundraising Collections from Epi-Cure:
1. Extraordinary Trio for $25.00
2. Weeknight Dinners for $20.00
3. Healthier Desserts for $20.00
Epicure is a local, family owned company that helps families create meal solutions that are healthy, delicious, gluten free, and 90% non-GMO.  With each kit sold, the Dry Grad Committee will receive 40% of the funds raised!  More information and an order form is on the Claremont Dry Grad 2019 fundraising page.

Peninsula Youth Clinic

The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
