GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Parent-Teacher Conferences – April 11

Parents can book appointments online for Parent-Teacher conferences starting Wednesday April 3 at 7:00 a.m.Appointment times will be for Thursday April 11, 5-7pm.  Please note: Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled prior to Report Cards being distributed (reports cards go home on Tuesday, April 30).
To book an appointment, all instructions are provided on the front page of the Claremont website; use the link that will be available as of Wednesday, April 3 @ 7:00 a.m..  Conferences fill up fast so book early.

Student Accomplishment: Fire/Rescue Camp
During Spring Break, when most kids are kicking back, a group of courageous boys and girls tested their strength and resolve at the Gulf Islands Fire/Rescue Cadet CampEthan Termehr and Jacob Loewen were two of the participants. Their rigorous instruction included structure fires, auto extrication, high angle rope rescue, search and rescue, medical first response and other fire service skills, totalling 114.5 hours of training in 6 days. This was a tough and character-building way to spend Spring Break. Way to go Ethan and Jacob!

CLUBS
Math Club

The Euclid Math Contest is TOMORROW morning in blocks 1 and 2.  Meet upstairs in room 302 at 8:45 am.

VEX Robotics Club
For all members of the VEX Robotics Club: there will be a meeting on WEDNESDAY at lunch in the Robotics room.

ATHLETICS
Track & Field

For all students interested in track & field: there is a VERY important meeting TODAY at lunch in the small gym. The first track & field meet is this Wednesday at Uvic.

Tennis
If you are interested in being on the Tennis Team, tryouts will be TOMORROW (Wednesday) after school. See Mr. Gardner for more information.

CAREER CENTRE
Coast Capital Savings Internship Program

The Coast Capital Savings - Youth Get It - Internship Program recruitment is underway! Coast Capital offers this valuable, fun, and paid work experience opportunity to students entering grade 11 or 12 in September 2019. There are 8 positions available in the Greater Victoria area. Deadline for applications is THIS FRIDAY April 5. Visit the Career Centre for program and application information forms.

Saanich Summer Internship Program
Saanich Parks & Recreation: Summer Internship Program is designed to support youth ages 16-18 years to gain valuable work experience. Mentored part-time and full-time placements are available in summer camps and community settings throughout Saanich. Interns receive up to $500 for completing the program!  Application deadline is May 15.  Apply by sending an e-mail to Alana.Goddard@saanich.ca  explaining why you want to be a summer intern or phone 250-475-7624 for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities
The Neal Estate Team's Annual Easter Egg Hunt needs volunteers! This fun event is taking place at Beaver Lake Park on Saturday April 20th and supports the BC Children's Hospital.  Please consider helping out! There are a variety of positions available such as face painting, cooking decorating and even being the Easter Bunny himself!  Check out the Career Centre for more information.

Grad Transition

Planning to grad in June?  This is a reminder to get your GT interview done and paperwork submitted to the Career Centre asap! April 12 is the cut-off for submissions before GT interviews are scheduled for you later this month! Visit the Career Centre if you have any questions!

COMMUNITY NEWS
Parent Education Night – April 9

Parents and guardians of Grade 5-9 students in the Saanich School District are welcome to join a parent information night to learn more about what students are learning about substance use, sexual orientation, gender diversity and modern masculinity. Presenters will included:
Michelle Joyce (SD 63 Police Liaison)
Lux Welsh (Ambit Gender Diversity)
Nick Sandor (Island Sexual Health)
TUESDAY April 9, 6:30-8:30pm, at Bayside Middle School, 1101 Newton Place, Brentwood Bay.

Family Resources Fair – April 16
A family resources fair is being planned by School District 63, combining the "Life After High School" and the "Community Living Resource Fair." This will be a chance for the community to network with current service providers to learn about who they are and what supports and services they provide for children, youth and adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities.  Saturday April 6, 11:30 – 3:30 at the Royal Oak Middle School gymnasium.

Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
