GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Lost

A set of 4 Nintendo switch controllers were lost in the school on Monday.  The controllers are green, pink, blue and red.  If you have seen these, please help out your fellow student by bringing them to the office or advising the office of where they may be.

New Bike Racks at Claremont
Now that Spring has arrived, the nice weather is more inviting for biking to and from school.  Claremont had new bike racks installed on Wednesday!!  They are located at the north side of the school by the staff parking lot.  These racks can hold up to 60 bikes, so strap on those helmets, enjoy some fresh air, and use our new racks to lock up your bikes.

Claremont Talent Show: April 16-18
This year's Talent Show will be April 16-18. It's not too late to sign up; if you would like to perform, please see Ms Giordano by Friday. Those of you who have already signed up, please check your email for information from Ms G.

Parent-Teacher Conferences – April 11
Online bookings are open for Parent-Teacher conferences. Appointment times will be for THURSDAY April 11, 5-7pm.  Please note: Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled prior to Report Cards being distributed (reports cards go home on Tuesday, April 30).
To book an appointment, all instructions and the link are provided on the front page of the Claremont website; conferences fill up fast so book early.  If a teacher you feel is important to see is already booked up, please email the teacher directly to arrange for an alternate meeting time.

Reminder to the Jr Girls Soccer team:  there is a meeting TODAY at lunch in room 303.  Also, for TODAY’s game at Lochside (against Mt Doug) please be dismissed at 2:30 from your classes.

UVic Medical Program Info – May 7
Are you interested in becoming a doctor? Do you know you can earn your MD at UVic? The Island Medical Program delivers the UBC MD Undergraduate Program in partnership with the University of Victoria and Island Health. Learn more about the MD admissions process at the upcoming high school information session on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, from 6:30-8:00 pm, in the UVic Medical Sciences Building, room 105.

Coast Capital Savings Internship Program
The Coast Capital Savings - Youth Get It - Internship Program recruitment is underway! Coast Capital offers this valuable, fun, and paid work experience opportunity to students entering grade 11 or 12 in September 2019. There are 8 positions available in the Greater Victoria area. Deadline for applications is TOMORROW April 5. Visit the Career Centre for program and application information forms.

Saanich Summer Internship Program
Saanich Parks & Recreation: Summer Internship Program is designed to support youth ages 16-18 years to gain valuable work experience. Mentored part-time and full-time placements are available in summer camps and community settings throughout Saanich. Interns receive up to $500 for completing the program!  Application deadline is May 15.  Apply by sending an e-mail to Alana.Goddard@saanich.ca  explaining why you want to be a summer intern or phone 250-475-7624 for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities
The Neal Estate Team's Annual Easter Egg Hunt needs volunteers! This fun event is taking place at Beaver Lake Park on Saturday April 20th and supports the BC Children's Hospital.  Please consider helping out! There are a variety of positions available such as face painting, cooking decorating and even being the Easter Bunny himself!  Check out the Career Centre for more information.

GRAD 2019
Mandatory Grad Assembly – Date Change

All grade 12's are required to attend a grad assembly on TUESDAY April 16 in block 1.  (Note date change: this assembly was previously scheduled for April 9). This assembly will provide all details about graduation: how to know if you are eligible to cross the stage, criteria for completion of courses at SIDES or ILC, grad ceremony, grad dinner/dance, All Nite Dry Grad, how to get TICKETS (and how many tickets), deadlines, plus you will be provided with all of the necessary paperwork. If you have a spare or if you are not usually at Claremont for block 1, it is essential that you make arrangements to attend this important assembly.

Grad Transition
Planning to grad in June?  This is a reminder to get your GT interview done and paperwork submitted to the Career Centre asap! April 12 is the cut-off for submissions before GT interviews are scheduled for you later this month! Visit the Career Centre if you have any questions!

Parent Education Night – April 9

Parents and guardians of Grade 5-9 students in the Saanich School District are welcome to join a parent information night to learn more about what students are learning about substance use, sexual orientation, gender diversity and modern masculinity. Presenters will included:

Lux Welsh (Ambit Gender Diversity)
Nick Sandor (Island Sexual Health)

Family Resources Fair – April 16
A family resources fair is being planned by School District 63, combining the "Life After High School" and the "Community Living Resource Fair." This will be a chance for the community to network with current service providers to learn about who they are and what supports and services they provide for children, youth and adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities.  Saturday April 6, 11:30 – 3:30 at the Royal Oak Middle School gymnasium.

Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
