Spartan Wear
Spartan Wear is on sale once again. If you would like a Claremont hoodie, t-shirt, sweat pants or a lanyard, please pick up an order form from the main office or the Accounting office. Deadline to hand in your payment and order forms is Wednesday April 17.
Parent-Teacher Conferences – April 11
Parent-Teacher conferences are THIS THURSDAY April 11, 5-7pm. Please note: Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled prior to Report Cards being distributed (reports cards go home on Tuesday, April 30).
To book an appointment, all instructions and the link are provided on the front page of the Claremont website. If a teacher you feel is important to see is already booked up, please email the teacher directly to arrange for an alternate meeting time.

Studio 63 Opening for Free Hair Appointments
Did you know that School District #63 has its own Hairstylist training program? Studio 63 is celebrating its 10th year, offering Hairdressing training in partnership with Vancouver Island University. Appointments can be made at the studio Mondays-Wednesdays from 12:30 to 4:00 pm or Thursdays from 11:30 to 6:00pm for a free haircut, style or up-do! To book and appointment, call 250 652-5381 and support our own SD#63 Hairdressing program (located at the Saanichton Learning Centre, 1649 Mt Newton X Rd).
CLUBS
Math Club
The Fryer/Galois/Hypatia math contests take place TOMORROW morning in block 1 in room 137. Please come a little early to fill out forms. There may be one or two extra papers, so if you have not signed up, but would like to write, see Mr. Skanks today.
ATHLETICS
Track
Reminder of track meeting TODAY at lunch in the small gym to discuss tomorrow’s meet. Relays will be held. All interested athletes are welcome to attend and participate.
Jr Girls Soccer
There is a lunchtime meeting TODAY at 12:00 in room 303 for all Jr Girls Soccer players. You need to be dismissed TODAY at 2:30 for the game at vs Spectrum.
Rowing
Congratulations to everyone who raced this weekend at the ‘Duelling Over A Grand’ Regatta. It is a really cool event and different from everything else we do, so it was great to have lots of crews racing. Highlights include:
U19 Women 4x (Chantal, Sarah, Serina, Elle) - 1st place
U19 Men 4x (Keiran, Kodi, Leo, Francesco) - 2nd place
Open Men 1x (Jack W) – he beat current National Team athletes who will be competing in World Cups this season, and finished very close to the eventual 2nd place winner who also happens to be a 3-time Olympian and Medalist.
Great work by all athletes on and off the water in supporting each other and representing the program at such a high level. Thanks to the parents, athletes, and coaches for all the work you have played in starting our racing season on a high note!
Swimming
Congratulations to all the Claremont swimmers who competed at the Canadian World Swimming Trials over the past week. This is the meet where the Canadian National team for the World Championships, Jr. World Championships and Pan American Games are chosen.
Highlights include:
Faith Knelson -1st in the 50m Breaststroke and 4th in the 100m Breaststroke. She was named to the Pan American Games team in Lima, Peru this summer.
Jade Hannah - 3rd in the 100m Backstroke, 2nd in the 50m Backstroke, 4th in the 200m Backstroke and 7th in the 50m Freestyle. She will be representing Canada at the Jr. World Championships for the second time in Budapest, Hungary.
Great races from - Kelsey Andrusak, Hannah Edwards, Chantel Jeffrey, Emma Myburgh, Keir Ogilvie, Kyla Ross and Jacob Rambo.
Great job Spartans!!

Camp Ignite – Summer 2019
Camp Ignite is a Youth Fire Fighter Mentorship Program for grade 11 & 12 girls, ages 16-18. It is a 4-day camp that educates and inspires young women about careers in firefighting. This camp offers girls an introduction to the world of firefighting as well as learning about fitness, nutrition, health and teamwork. This year's camp will run from August 8-11, 2019. Saanich Fire is looking to sponsor one grade 11 or 12 girl to attend. Application deadline is June 1. Please visit the Career Centre for application packages.
UVic Medical Program Info – May 7
Are you interested in becoming a doctor? Do you know you can earn your MD at UVic? The Island Medical Program delivers the UBC MD Undergraduate Program in partnership with the University of Victoria and Island Health. Learn more about the MD admissions process at the upcoming high school information session on Tuesday, May 7, from 6:30-8:00 pm, in the UVic Medical Sciences Building, room 105.
Saanich Summer Internship Program
Saanich Parks & Recreation: Summer Internship Program is designed to support youth ages 16-18 years to gain valuable work experience. Mentored part-time and full-time placements are available in summer camps and community settings throughout Saanich. Interns receive up to $500 for completing the program! GRAD 2019
Mandatory Grad Assembly – Date Change
All grade 12's are required to attend a grad assembly on TUESDAY April 16 in block 1. (Note date change: this assembly was previously scheduled for April 9). This assembly will provide all details about graduation: how to know if you are eligible to cross the stage, criteria for completion of courses at SIDES or ILC, grad ceremony, grad dinner/dance, All Nite Dry Grad, how to get TICKETS (and how many tickets), deadlines, plus you will be provided with all of the necessary paperwork. If you have a spare or if you are not usually at Claremont for block 1, it is essential that you make arrangements to attend this important assembly.

Planning to grad in June? This is a reminder to get your GT interview done and paperwork submitted to the Career Centre asap! April 12 is the cut-off for submissions before GT interviews are scheduled for you later this month! Visit the Career Centre if you have any questions!

Parent Education Night – TONIGHT
Parents and guardians of Grade 5-9 students in the Saanich School District are welcome to join a parent information night to learn more about what students are learning about substance use, sexual orientation, gender diversity and modern masculinity. Presenters will included:

Family Resources Fair – April 16
A family resources fair is being planned by School District 63, combining the "Life After High School" and the "Community Living Resource Fair." This will be a chance for the community to network with current service providers to learn about who they are and what supports and services they provide for children, youth and adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities. Saturday April 6, 11:30 – 3:30 at the Royal Oak Middle School gymnasium.
Peninsula Youth Clinic
The Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney and is open every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
