GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Lost

A men’s black Mountain Equipment Coop raincoat has been lost in the school.  If you have found it, please help out your fellow student and bring it to the office .


Grad Diplomas for 2019 Grads 

Parents:  if you have an older child who graduated in June 2019, their Dogwood Graduation Diplomas are available in the office for pickup.  Younger siblings are welcome to pick them up.


Leadership Camp: Sept 27-28

If you are interested in attending a Leadership Camp at Claremont from Friday Sept 27 – Saturday Sept 28, please see Ms Giordano in the dance studio to pick up a permission form, as soon as possible. Open to all students.


Basketball Class

Mr. Dunlop's morning basketball class has a very important meeting TOMORROW (Friday) at lunch in the big gym.

Elections Canada is looking for students 16 and older to help with the upcoming Federal Election on Monday, October 21st., as well as the possibility of the Advance Polls over four days of the Thanksgiving long weekend, Friday, Oct. 11 to Monday, Oct. 14. Information about the roles, responsibilities, expectations and remuneration can be found online at elections.ca.  


Outside work using wheel barrow, dolly, and buckets to help install a drainage system in backyard of residence. 12 hours over 2-3 days @ $20 per hour.

Help install a dash cam and back-up camera for a senior on her vehicle. Tools and manual provided. 1-2 hours @ $15 per hour.

Long-term help around a resident's home or garden periodically as needed.  $15 per hour.


UVic School of Health Information Science Open House – Oct 16

The School of Health Information Sciences is hosting its Fall Open House on Wednesday, October 16th, 4:30-6:00pm at UVic’s Cornett Building room A125. Students interested in the life sciences, medicine and/or information technology would be especially interested in these programs.  Students are invited to learn more about this exciting field by talking with faculty and students. Join us for pizza while learning about the rapidly expanding field of information technology in health care!

Food Safe Level 1 - Friday Oct. 25Th, 8:30 am –4:30 pm @ SHOAL Centre in Sidney, 10030 Resthaven Drive.  Cost is $50.00 - Cash, cheque or credit card is accepted. Food Safe is useful for anyone working in the food service, food retail, or food processing industries. You will learn how to handle food safely in order to prevent food from being contaminated.

Alert First Aid With CPR "C" & AED - Saturday, November 22, 2019 -8:30 am to 4:00 pm @ SHOAL Centre, 10030 Resthaven Drive. Cost is $50.00 -Cash, cheque or credit card is accepted. This fun, interactive, and comprehensive 8-hour course trains people how to react & improvise during life threatening emergencies. This course meets the Adult & Child Licensing Guidelines.

Air Cadets: 676 Kittyhawk Open House – Tonight

Have you ever wondered what Air Cadets is all about?  Come learn about the Air Cadets Program TONIGHT, 6:30-9:00pm, at 1979 DeHavillarn Way in Sidney.  The Open House will introduce you various training components, such as flying, marksmanship, survival and more. Open to all youth ages 12-18 and their families.


Peninsula Youth Clinic 

For all youth aged 12-24: the Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney (250-656-4143) and is open EVERY THURSDAY from 5:30 – 7:30pm, providing services for mental, physical, and sexual health. A doctor and mental health clinician is on hand. 

Walk-ins are welcome! Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone.
