GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Thank You

The Claremont Support Staff are deeply appreciative to our students, teachers, admin team, families and neighbours during the recent job action.  Thank you so much for your patience, encouragement, support, and many acts of kindness.  We are very happy to be back in the school doing what we love: supporting our students. 


Com Rec 12: Field Trip Today

Com Rec 12 has a Field Trip TODAY at the driving range. Meet at the PE office at regular class time.


Breakfast Club – Thursday Mornings

Reminder that the Claremont‘s PAC-sponsored Breakfast Club runs on THURSDAY mornings at 8:30 a.m.  Come to the Student Lounge for a free bagel, spread, and juice box to fuel your body for the day.


Student Parking – Registration Required

Reminder to all students who are parking in the student parking lot: you must be registered to park there. Permission forms are in the office. To become registered, the office needs: a parent-signed registration form, a photocopy of your driver’s licence, a photocopy of your car insurance, and $2 for the parking pass.  


CLUBS

Math Club

Math Club meets TODAY at lunch in room 130.  Plus the math contest, CSIMC, is on WEDNESDAY morning in blocks 1 and 2 in room 311.


Robotics Club

Claremont's Robotics teams competed this past weekend in a tournament at Shawnigan Lake.  All three teams made the playoffs and two teams qualified for the provincials. Congratulations roboteers!

There is a mandatory meeting for all robotics students in the robot room on TUESDAY at lunch.


Nintendo Club

Nintendo Club Meets every THURSDAY at lunch in Room 215. Bring your Nintendo switch controllers this Thursday to join in on the fun!


ATHLETICS

Junior Girls Basketball – Final Tryout Tonight 

Last call for any Junior Girls who are interested in playing basketball this year. There will be a final tryout for Junior Girls TONIGHT from 7:15-9:00 pm in the big gym. Please contact Ms. Robertson if you have any questions.


Sr Boys Volleyball – Island Champs

Congratulations to the Sr. Boys Volleyball Team who went undefeated in AAA Island Championships this weekend. The Spartans were the defending Champions going into the weekend and won in three games straight over #4 provincially ranked Oak Bay. Claremont won 27-25, 25-14, 25-16. All the players contributed well, over the course of the tournament.  Go Spartans!!  


Swimming

The Claremont Swim Team was at the Provincials this past weekend and the small team of 8 had a great meet with all of the swimmers making FINALS.  Congratulations to all swimmers!!

Marcus Mak:  came 4th in 2 tight races (and 2 best times) against much older swimmers in the 100 Back and 200 IM. 

Alex Medler had 2 great swims coming in as an alternate in the 100 Free and also in the 200 IM.

Relay (Marcus Mak, Alex Medler, Declan Warner and Kris Hulten) came 7th in the   4 x 50 Free.

Relay (Fahren Baker, Sophie Marshall, Declan Warner and Kris Hulten) dominated the B Final of the Mixed 4 x 50 Free.

Go Spartans!!

PISE Info Session – Nov 21

Parent Night @ UVic – Nov 28

Parent Night is for the parents! Come to hear information about admission requirements for our programs, scholarships, and upcoming application deadlines, plus some advice on helping your student transition successfully to life in university. GRAD 2020

Magic Wand Project

Magic Wand Project is a non-profit organization that offers an inexpensive and eco-friendly alternative to grad outfits for both girls and boys. This is a chance to borrow, rather than buy, a dress, suit or tux, (a small fee for cleaning is the only charge). All outfits are new or like-new, and all accessories are included. COMMUNITY NEWS

Peninsula Youth Clinic 

For all youth aged 12-24: the Peninsula Youth Clinic is located at Peninsula Medical, 2a-2379 Bevan Avenue, Sidney (250-656-4143) and is open EVERY THURSDAY from 5:30 – 7:30pm, providing services for mental, physical, and sexual health. A doctor and mental health clinician is on hand. 

Walk-ins are welcome! Services are completely free and confidential in their judgement free zone. 

-any medical concern

-get prescriptions

-speak with a counsellor

-access to STI and pregnancy testing

-access to birth control
