Jr Boys Soccer - Island Champions
The Junior Boys Soccer team played a fantastic tournament at the Island Championships in Brentwood Bay. After successfully winning the City Finals against a strong Reynold’s squad in late October, our players represented Claremont with pride and sportsmanship with hard-fought wins over Oak Bay, Gulf Islands, and Brooks, before defeating Carihi in the finals. We are, once again, Island Champions! We were extremely proud of their effort and are hoping for an Island three-peat next season. Go Spartans!!
Jr Boys Volleyball
The Jr Boys Volleyball team has been very successful throughout November.
St. Andrews tournament: the boys won gold.
League play: the team won silver with a record of 26-2. The boys went undefeated and won their pool in Lower Islands and made the final against an absolute juggernaut of a team in PCS. Claremont won the first set, lost the second, sending us to set 3. PCS took a 14-8 lead(in a game to 15). We battled back, tied the game, and had 2 different match points to win. Unfortunately, we couldn’t hold them off and lost 18-16 and settled for silver. A hard-fought game.
Island Championship: the team won silver. Again, the team went undefeated and won their pool. We played an amazing semi final against a strong Belmont team, split the first two sets and won 15-13 in the third set. We moved, with no break, to play against, you guessed it, PCS for the 3rd time in a final this year. Although our boys played an amazing, PCS took the match.
On the season, the boys have a record of 79-10 (sets won: lost) or 39-4 (matches won: lost). The only team to defeat Claremont in a match this year is PCS (4 times). A HUGE accomplishment for a team with 4 gr 10’s and 9 grade 9’s! Good luck at the upcoming Provincials. Go Spartans!!
The City Championships Rowing Regatta was held on Nov 9/10 at Elk Lake. Claremont had crews racing in 11 of 17 events, and our Spartans brought home 13 medals: 6 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze. Congratulations to all rowers for their impressive results.
